Overview
We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Aviation & Airline Services & Programs in our Scottsdale or Chandler AZ locations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and leading the activities of an Aviation Program team that is the primary point of contact for transport category aircraft performance and weight and balance programs.
Essential Functions
- Lead a team of Aviation Program Specialists and Aviation Program Managers with diverse capability levels in the areas of service and support related to transport category aircraft performance and weight and balance activities
- Oversee special projects, new customer implementations, customer change requests, triaging issues, data validation, product delivery, database updates and solution configuration of Garmin’s aircraft performance and weight and balance products and services to aircraft customers
- Oversee team assignments and resource planning aligned with employee, team, and organizational development and growth requirements
- Assess technical and programmatic situations with a balance of strategical and technical expertise providing leadership and risk/opportunity/strategic decision-based guidance in a timely manner
- Own and participate in development, implementation, and maintenance of processes and tools that improve the quality, efficiency, scalability, and maintainability of the duties and activities of the organization
- Communicate priorities, status, risks/opportunities, actions, strategies, vision, and mission clearly and appropriately within the organization
- Participate in or lead other management/supervisor functions such as strategic roadmap, resource planning, and others
- Lead projects or initiatives varying in complexity and size in parallel to normal supervisor duties
- Ensure the team meets overall departmental productivity and quality goals in accordance with department processes, standards, and metrics.
- Directly supervise team members while mentoring and ensuring a highly productive work group
- Work collaboratively, efficiently, and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates and teams to achieve departmental goals
- Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and prioritization in planning, execution, and messaging
- Support on-call escalations as appropriate 24/7/365
- Partner with Human resources to interview, hire, and train new associates and to address associate relations issues.
- Ability to travel for customer support and training
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Engineering, Business or related field AND a minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
- Must demonstrate knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR)
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated proficient Microsoft Software including Outlook, Project, Excel, and Word.
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Detail-oriented and organized with demonstrated analytical problem-solving abilities.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) governing aircraft operations with 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 experience preferred
- Experience in Airline or Charter Operations, Air Traffic Control, Flight Dispatching, Flight Operations, or Aviation Program/Project Management
- Previous supervisor experience
