OHB System AG in Oberpfaffenhofen sucht einen Systems Engineer Quantum Technologies (m/f/d). Sie arbeiten an satellitenbasierten Quantenkommunikationsnetzen, koordinieren Subsysteme und Schnittstellen und gestalten technische Baselines für Missionen.

Sie definieren Anforderungen, unterstützen Proposal-Entwicklung, Budgetdefinitionen und Testkampagnen; Führungserfahrung willkommen, Raumfahrtkenntnisse vorteilhaft.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physik/Mathematik/CS mit Fokus auf Quantenoptik/Quanten-Technologien.
• Fundierte Kenntnisse zu Quanten-technologien und deren industriellen Anwendungen.
• Erfahrung im Systems Engineering in industrieller Umgebung oder Lernbereitschaft.
• Erfahrung in sicheren Quantenkommunikationssystemen vorteilhaft.

Responsibilities

• Technische Koordination von System- und Subsystems sowie Schnittstellen.
• Definition der System- und Missionsanforderungen, Trade-offs prüfen.
• Planung von Testkampagnen auf System- und Subsystemebene.
• Projekt- und Work-Package-Management; Ansprechpartner für Subunternehmer.

Systems Engineer Quantum Technologies (m/f/d)

This is a key role in implementation of missions with focus on satellite-based quantum communication networks and the related technology development. With your expertise and passion for quantum technologies, you are the point of contact for the engineering team when it comes to technical questions in this context. Perspectively, you will act as the technical contact person for subcontractors and customers for entire systems and missions.

Your Tasks

• QuantumTechnologies & Secure Communication
  • Contribute to studies andearly-phase projects (Phases 0/A/B) focused on quantum technologies
  • Support implementationprojects (Phases B/C/D/E) with emphasis on secure and quantumcommunication systems
• SystemsEngineering
  • Technical coordination of(Sub-)Systems and Interfaces
  • Analysis and definition ofcustomer, mission and system requirement
  • Trade-offs of technical andprogrammatic solutions
  • Technical baseline definitionfor (sub)systems including trade-off of performance-related parameters
  • Plan test campaigns at systemand subsystem levels
  • Overview and management oftechnical solutions developed internally and externally for particularsystems and subsystems
  • Compile documentationaccording to space standards
• Project& Work Package Management
  • Manage work packages andsub-projects within larger projects
  • Represent the work packagesand/or sub-project(s) as technical point-of-contact towardssubcontractors and customers
• ProposalDevelopment
  • Participate in or leadproposal creation, particularly in the domain of quantum technologies
  • Define technical baselinesand development logic for proposals
  • Define study and developmentlogic, including work breakdown structures
  • Support budget definition andengineering activities

Your Qualifications

• PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science or equivalent with a focus on quantum optics/ quantum technology
• In-depth knowledge of quantum technologies and (ideally) their industrial applications. In particular, quantum key distribution, quantum memories, quantum sensors, and entanglement as a resource in quantum networks
• Ideally, system engineering experience in an industrial environment or at least a strong motivation to learn new methods
• Experience in the design and implementation of secure and quantum communication systems for ground and space would be a plus
• Strong solution oriented, self-managed and pro-active working style
• Passion for technology and the motivation to turn ideas into reality
• Hands-on experience in the lab in the context of technology development up to TRL 4, ideally in the context of QKD for space-based applications or free space optics
• Ideally, experience in motivating and leading small teams in technical roles
• Professional experience in the space industry or in space-related projects would be an advantage
