A leading cloud services provider is seeking a systems engineer in Berlin to oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud. The role includes leading high-availability AWS services, collaborating with global teams, and troubleshooting software systems. Candidates should have expertise in systems engineering and scripting, and must be EU nationals residing in the EU. The position requires participation in on-call rotations, emphasizing customer satisfaction and innovation.
AWS is introducing the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC). We are seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations to join the AWS Managed Operations team and to deliver high-availability AWS services for EU customers, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock.
Responsibilities include overseeing the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams, and influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology. A typical day involves working with technology leaders, improving day-to-day operations, and enhancing availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC. Occasional on-call rotations are required to resolve incidents outside of business hours.
The goal is to deliver scalable services and a high-availability experience for EU customers and to build a best-in-class development engineering and operations team in line with AWS\'s commitment to customer satisfaction and continual innovation.
