Skyborn Renewables in Hamburg is seeking a Substation Engineer (all genders) to lead the technical design and delivery of offshore and onshore substations from concept through commissioning and handover.

You will define tender requirements, coordinate interfaces across disciplines, review designs, and drive risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance. Travel internationally during construction and commissioning is expected.

Qualifikationen

• Proven experience in substation electrical systems design and project delivery.
• Strong understanding of LV/HV and auxiliary systems.

• Act as main technical contact for contractors and coordinate interfaces across engineering, certification, construction and third-party systems.
• Review and approve designs and vendor documentation for compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
• Lead design reviews and risk assessments (HAZID/HAZOP) and resolve technical issues.
• Support procurement, FATs, construction, commissioning, and on-site supervision.
• Ensure timely delivery of compliant as-built documentation and handover to operations and maintenance teams.

Your future tasks:

• Lead the technical design and delivery of offshore and onshore substations from concept through commissioning and handover.
• Define technical requirements for tenders and contracts covering all substation electrical systems.
• Act as the main technical contact for contractors and coordinate interfaces across engineering, certification, construction, and third-party systems.
• Review and approve designs and vendor documentation, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
• Lead design reviews and risk assessments, including HAZID and HAZOP, and resolve technical issues.
• Support procurement, FATs, construction, commissioning, and on-site supervision.
• Ensure timely delivery of compliant as-built documentation and a smooth handover to operations and maintenance teams.

Your profile:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Several years of relevant experience in substation electrical systems design and project delivery, preferably in the offshore wind sector.
• Strong technical understanding of substation systems (LV/HV), auxiliary systems, and relevant industry standards.
• Experience in cross-disciplinary engineering coordination and interface management.
• Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Fluent in English; other languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally during construction and commissioning phases.
