Job description

Your mission

As a Studio Design Engineer, you turn design intent into real parts. You are part of the design studio, but your role sits at the intersection of industrial design and mechanical engineering, holding the design's intent on one side and the system’s demands on the other. You carry the surface all the way into production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineer the part behind the surface. Take the A-surface from industrial design and build the B-side behind it: wall thickness, ribs, bosses, draft, parting lines, fastening, clips.

  • Own surface quality through every trade. Continuity, highlights, radii, gaps, flushness. When engineering pushes back, know what the surface can give up and what it cannot.

  • Work in CAD and in the physical. Model parametrically and build physically. Iterate fast: prepare prototypes, print parts, and refine fit and finish in the hand.

  • Lead material and process selection for hard surfaces. Polymers, metals, coatings, and the processes that form them. Match each material to surface, structure, cost, and feel. Keep a working library of qualified materials, processes, and suppliers.

  • Take parts into production. Run sample rounds, DFM reviews, and tooling. Own fit and finish until the part ships.

  • Present and own your work. Present directly to the Head of Design and stakeholders. Argue clearly for your ideas, take feedback on board, and plan the next steps.

Your profile

You are an engineer who can think like a designer. Someone who takes on complex problems, takes pride in their work, and holds beauty and invention as high as precision.

  • Experience: 4+ years engineering products that reached production. We hire on the portfolio: show us parts you took from sketch to CAD to tooling.

  • Core Skills: Parametric CAD, millimeter-precise. Plastic part design: draft, ribs, bosses, clips. Design for manufacture across injection molding, LSR, casting, and stamping. Hands-on prototyping and fit checks.

  • Mindset: You care how a part looks as much as how it works. You protect the design without slowing it down. You understand that our scope sometimes reaches beyond typical engineering work, and you are happy to help where needed. You carry the agility of a startup and the rigor of a segment-leading design studio.

Helpful (but not required) skills and experience

  • Experience in a design studio or consultancy.

  • Fusion 360, its PLM, and FEA.

  • A-surface modeling and analysis.

  • Interfaces between hard and soft goods.

Why us?

  • The Team: Work alongside leadership with a proven track record of building unicorn-scale companies and defining global robotics standards.

  • Smart Strategy: We operate as disciplined fast followers. Capital is timed to the deployment inflection point, avoiding early-mover dead ends to scale fast on proven foundations.

  • Resources: We are substantially internally funded and attract top-tier investors to avoid any capital constraints for our mission.

  • Historic Opportunity: Join at the dawn of a new industry comparable to the rise of the automobile. Help shape the European champion in this trillion-dollar market.
