Zusammenfassung

Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg, Germany, offers an internship in mechanical testing and failure analysis within the high-performance engine area. You will work on mechanical design, testing, and analysis of engine and powertrain components, supporting evaluation of loads, materials, and manufacturing processes.

The program runs for at least four months, is full-time and paid fairly. Applicants from the EU need valid ID; non-EU need residence/work permits.

Qualifikationen

Our Team

Since the 2026 season, Audi has been competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Formula 1 factory of Audi Motorsport AG in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Audi Motorsport Technology Center in UK is in its launch phase and growing continuously. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

Our internships as well as thesis projects last at least four months, are full-time, and we offer fair compensation.

This position is scheduled to start in October 2026.

Please note that all theses are subject to a confidentiality clause, and an additional non-disclosure agreement with the university supervisor may be required.

This position is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

The entire testing process of the high-performance unit for racing use in terms of thermodynamics and mechanics is carried out within the development testing/reliability of the Internal Combustion Engine department. The area of responsibility covers the entire development process from the initial concept design to the operational drivetrain unit on the test bench.

Your Mission
Focus: Mechanical Testing and Failure Analysis

In this internship, you will work on the mechanical design, testing, and failure analysis of engine and power train components. You will support the evaluation of component loads, materials, and manufacturing processes, as well as the investigation of damage cases. You will gain insights into the relationships between mechanical stress, material behavior, and reliability.

Your Profile
  • Successfully completed basic studies in a technical degree programme specialising in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or fluid mechanics
  • Knowledge of the functionality of combustion engines (mechanics and thermodynamics)
  • Knowledge of measurement technology, tribology and materials science
  • Basic knowledge of common programming languages
  • Good basic technical understanding
  • Basic knowledge of engine management systems
  • Goal-orientated, independent and structured way of working and interest in motorsport
  • Strong implementation skills and a high degree of motivation and initiative
  • Strong ability to work in a team
  • Good knowledge of German or English
