A leading German university in Niedersachsen is seeking a motivated Student Assistant to support the subject of simulative design and manufacture of PVD-coated cutting tools. The role involves planning and conducting experiments, analyzing results, and assisting with numerical simulations. The position is limited to 3 months, 23 hours per month. The Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) welcomes applications for the following position available from now on : Student Assistant on the subject of “Simulative design and manufacture of PVD-coated cutting tools” (23 hours per month)
The position is limited to 3 months for project-related reasons.
PVD-coated cutting tools are used in industrial manufacturing to reduce wear and increase performance. However, when machining high‑strength materials, severe thermomechanical stresses occur which can lead to cracking and coating failure. The aim of the project is to gain a better understanding of these processes through experimental investigations and simulations and to develop new approaches to tool design.
We are looking for a motivated student assistant to join our team with immediate effect.
A prerequisite for employment is valid enrolment at a German university in a degree programme relevant to the position (mechanical engineering, chemistry, materials science or similar subjects).
