Zusammenfassung

Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen invites motivated student assistants to join the Glass and Precision Manufacturing team. You will help develop Abaqus simulations, set up models, mesh, debug, and evaluate results, while post-processing data in Python for optimization and machine-learning tasks.

Ideal candidates study Computational Engineering or related fields, possess strong Python skills, and have experience with FEM tools (Abaqus/ANSYS). German knowledge is advantageous.

Qualifikationen

• Must be currently enrolled in a degree program (e.g., Computational Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Simulation Sciences).
• Strong Python programming skills required.
• Experience with FEM software (Abaqus/ANSYS) is expected; knowledge of user subroutines is a plus.

In the »Glass and Precision Manufacturing« department, we are looking for motivated student assistants to support us in innovative research projects.

As a student assistant, you will support our team with FEM simulations and Python programming, gaining valuable research experience alongside your studies. You will collaborate with an experienced, interdisciplinary research team and contribute to the development of Abaqus simulations for glass molding processes, including model setup, meshing, debugging, result extraction, and evaluation. You will also post-process simulation data in Python for optimization and machine-learning applications.

What you contribute

• Currently studying Computational Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Simulation Sciences, or a comparable subject
• Advanced programming skills in Python are required; basic knowledge of Fortran is an advantage
• Experience with FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation software, e.g., Abaqus or ANSYS, is expected; knowledge of user subroutine implementation is an advantage
• Good analytical skills and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary project work
• Initiative, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset
• Strong proficiency in English is required; knowledge of German is an advantage
