Nous Ventures in Munich is seeking a founding Staff Engineer to be the technical spine across multiple products, owning the core systems, shared frameworks, and critical infrastructure. You will define and evolve architecture decisions to avoid long-term dead ends, spend most of your time writing and shipping production code, and mentor engineers through pairing and code reviews.

You're the one who writes the framework that ends up under three products, not the feature that ends up on a slide.

Founding Staff Engineer for a Munich AI native startup shipping multiple products in parallel - and you're the technical spine.

Founding team are ex-Google, studied at Cambridge.. you know the type.

You'll own the highest leverage engineering work across every product, the core systems, the shared frameworks AND the critical infrastructure.

You'll define and evolve the architecture decisions that stop the codebase hitting long term dead ends.

You'll spend most of your time writing and shipping production code, and you'll mentor the engineers around you by pairing, reviewing and giving direct feedback rather than lecturing.

Stack is Python, React and TypeScript, plus Docker, Terraform and one of Azure, AWS or GCP. Bonus if you've already built or integrated LLM systems and large scale data pipelines.

8+ years shipping software in production a real track record of designing systems that hold up across multiple products and teams is ideal.

Suitable for ex-founders, ex-CTOs who want to go back to hands-on shipping. Not suitable for anyone who wants a 9-5, needs external validation, or thinks mentorship means telling other people what to do.

Up to €200k. Full-time, in-person in Munich, and comfortable with intensity beyond a 9-5.
