Peritus Partners is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the transformation of a legacy engineering estate into a modern, scalable suite of services in Berlin.

You will work with an Engineering Manager to steer strategy, mentor senior engineers, contribute coding effort, and drive change across teams, with a focus on AI practices.

Candidates should have hands-on experience transforming legacy systems, strong decision-making, ownership, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll work closely with an Engineering Manager who to steer the strategy of change, paving the way for existing team members and stakeholders with the support of Senior leadership.

What You’ll Work On

• Lead the technical design and hands on execution of transforming a legacy centric engineering estate into a modern, manageable suite of services.
• Establish AI Software practices and architecture, driving the engineering systems to be more efficient for AI assisted development.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to senior engineers, helping them work through complex technical challenges.
• Stay hands on, contributing code directly to the most complex or highest leverage parts of the transformation.
• Act as part of the change management squad driving innovation

What You Bring

• Proven experience architecting and executing legacy to modern platform transformations, hands on
• Strong track record of technical decision making that balances product roadmap priorities with engineering strategy, including driving cross team alignment without formal authority
• Experience mentoring and technically guiding senior engineers, without direct management responsibility
• Strong ownership mindset, driving change independently under ambiguity with limited precedent
• While it is not mandatory, it would be a ‘nice-to-have’ if you already have hands on experience building or scaling AI native engineering practices (AI Software development lifecycle, AI assisted development tooling and workflows)
