The successful candidate will be involved in enhancing operational performance for clients and has a background in STEM disciplines. Responsibilities include problem-solving for metals clients, leading workshops, and conducting analyses. Candidates should have 3+ years of relevant experience and be fluent in German and English. The role is based in Berlin or other major cities in Germany.
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
You will be part of our client teams in the steel sector, other metals and related sectors, bringing your metals expertise and directly contributing to turning around operational performance, solving our client’s toughest problems and helping to shape their strategy.
As a specialist in this field, you will be a part of McKinsey's renowned advisory, which comprises specialized expertise along the entire iron-steel value chain.
In addition to working as an advisor, you will participate in, or at times lead, key internal knowledge-building initiatives as well as conferences and client workshops.
You will play an active role in problem-solving for metals clients, including identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing and conducting analyses, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations.
You will also gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. You will receive exceptional training, frequent coaching, and ongoing mentoring from colleagues and senior leaders on your teams.
You’ll be working ideally in the Dusseldorf or Berlin offices and will be part of the Metals & Mining practice. This position can also be based in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, or Hamburg.
The Metals & Mining practice brings a unique blend of industry, functional, and regional expertise to help metal/mining companies solve their most important and complex problems, and deliver fundamental, measurable, and lasting performance improvement. Additionally, we help leaders hone strategy, transform operational performance and organizational effectiveness, and deliver step-change improvements right across the value chain, from resource efficiency to capital productivity to marketing.
