Personio is seeking a Solutions Engineer based in Munich or Berlin to support the German public sector, NGOs and education. You will partner with Sales, translate requirements into practical solutions, and coordinate with Product, Security, Legal, and Implementation teams on complex engagements.

You will also contribute to tender responses and help articulate customer value through ROI/TCO analyses. Expect regular travel to customer sites (about 10–20%).

Qualifikationen

• 2-3+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering or similar customer-facing technical role.
• Strong foundation in SaaS, IT infrastructure, IT stack, and security concepts.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into practical solution approaches.
• Customer-centric, commercially driven mindset; data-driven with ROI/TCO focus.
• Experience with security/compliance topics (ISO/IEC 27001, GDPR/DSGVO, etc.).

As a Solutions Engineer, you will be part of the Go To Market organization, reporting to a Manager of Solutions Engineering. You will work primarily with our German sales team dedicated to serving the public sector, NGOs and education. You will support sales opportunities and drive customer acquisition, while working on fun and challenging projects that help grow our business. You will also be the interface between Sales, Product & Engineering, Customer Success, and Data Privacy on technical topics and product-related projects.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

• Partner with Sales throughout the sales cycle to understand customer needs and support successful deal execution.

• Run structured discovery to uncover business, functional, technical, security, and procurement requirements.

• Translate customer requirements into practical solution approaches and tailored product demonstrations.

• Support technical validation and address customer questions and objections.

• Contribute to RFI, RFP, and public tender responses.

• Collaborate with Product, Security, Legal, Implementation, and other internal teams to bring the right expertise into customer engagements.

• Develop expertise in public sector procurement, buyer dynamics, security, and compliance requirements.

• Help articulate customer value through ROI/TCO and value engineering.

• Share customer feedback and contribute to reusable demos, assets, and best practices.

• Continuously develop your product, technical, and public sector knowledge.

• You will support other regions/markets as required.

• You will travel to customer sites as needed (10-20% of time).

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

• 2-3+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering or a similar customer-facing technical role.

• A good technical foundation and understanding of SaaS, IT infrastructure, IT stack, and security concepts.

• Ability to translate customer requirements into practical solution approaches.

• A customer-centric and commercially driven mindset.

• Strong analytical and data-driven thinking, with the ability to rightsize your efforts based on customer and business needs.

• Experience with security and compliance topics, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR/DSGVO. Knowledge of BSI IT-Grundschutz or C5 is a plus.

• Experience with value engineering and ROI/TCO quantification, or a demonstrated ability to develop these skills.

• A clear and structured communication style, with the ability to adapt to different audiences.

• Native-level or fluent German and full professional proficiency in English.

• Exposure to national and EU-wide public tender processes. Knowledge of relevant public procurement regulations is a plus.
