Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Software Engineer III, Information Security in Munich to work on memory-safe, secure software for large-scale systems. You will contribute to security and API design, collaborate across teams, and help advance Google’s memory safety program.

Strong emphasis on data privacy and security engineering is required. The role requires at least a bachelor's degree and 2 years of software development experience or 1 year with an advanced degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., IAM).
• Master's degree or PhD in CS or related field (preferred).
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with Rust coding language.
• Security and API design experience.
• Foundations in security engineering, computer and network security.

• Design and implement new techniques and make them work for extremely large scale software systems across many product teams. Help deploy exploit mitigations, retrofit spatial safety to C++ and transition Google to memory safe programming languages such as Rust.
• Build strong partnerships and collaborate with partner teams in Google's Memory Safety program, as well as with industry and academia.
• Fix memory safety across all Google products. From initial security research and tactical exploit mitigations to engineering away classes of problems and addressing their root cause.
• Research and apply innovative techniques for memory safety, from program analysis to machine learning.
