Zalando's Dortmund Tech Hub seeks a Software Engineer for backend services in the Inventory domain. You will build essential systems to support Zalando's fulfillment pipeline and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable inventory solutions.

You will own end-to-end product development, contribute to strategy, and help shape the team and processes while promoting an inclusive culture. The role offers hybrid work with flexible options in Germany.

Qualifikationen

• Proficient in Java-based languages (Kotlin); PHP is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable solutions.

As a Software Engineer working on backend services in the Inventory domain within Fulfillment Core, you will develop key products that are essential to our fulfillment process. As part of a new team you will collaborate with other engineering teams to provide centralized capabilities around Inventory such as integrating with Third Party Logistics Providers. You will be able to own and shape interesting new projects and influence the future of inventory at Zalando. Our Dortmund Tech Hub is located in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia which is a diverse state with vibrant business centres, bustling cities and peaceful natural landscapes. The state is home to one of the strongest industrial regions in the world and offers one of the most vibrant cultural landscapes in Europe.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• Programming Language skills: You're proficient in a Java-based language (e.g., Kotlin) and can quickly learn new technologies. Knowledge of php is a plus, but not required.
• Infrastructure skills: You are familiar with cloud-based platforms (like AWS) and relational databases (such as PostgreSQL)
• Operational Excellence: You know how to maintain and operate complex systems at scale by applying industry best practices around monitoring and alerting
• Collaborative & Communicative: You work well in cross-functional teams and are skilled at communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Building proactive relationships across departments will be key to your success.
• Curious & Innovative: You're always looking for ways to improve the accuracy and efficiency of simulations. Your curiosity drives you to explore new techniques and propose research initiatives that push the boundaries of our simulation capabilities.
