RE-Managers GmbH, in collaboration with Project Iris, seeks software/data engineers for a full-time, permanent role based in Germany with hybrid/remote options. You will build scalable geospatial data pipelines, backends with FastAPI, and frontend connections with React/Next.js while respecting data privacy and multi-tenant deployment.

Ideal candidates have a degree in CS/Geoinformatics/Data Science, strong Python, SQL (PostgreSQL), and experience with Docker.

• Strong Python (FastAPI, Pandas) and/or modern Web technologies (TypeScript, React, Next.js).

• Interest or experience in AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, v0.dev, LLM APIs).

About Project Iris

Project Iris is an applied research and technology initiative dedicated to automated spatial data analysis, cadastre intelligence, infrastructure mapping, and open-source data modeling.

Together with our commercial transfer network (including RE-Managers GmbH), we bridge the gap between academic data science, resilience research, and practical real-world application. Complex geospatial and resilience data models are deployed into active enterprise environments, stakeholder portals, and infrastructure tools. The resulting real-world usage and performance metrics are continuously validated and fed back into our open research models.

In this role, you turn algorithmic frameworks and spatial datasets into robust, production-ready digital architectures.

Your Focus & Responsibilities

• Geospatial & Core Data Modeling: Develop and refine automated pipelines for spatial datasets, open-source cadastre records, and environmental scoring algorithms using Python.
• AI-Assisted Full-Stack Integration: Transform algorithmic logic into high-performance FastAPI backends and connect them with modern React/Next.js frontends (leveraging cutting-edge tools such as v0.dev, Cursor, and Windsurf).
• Applied Transfer & Enterprise Workflows: Implement real-world pilot applications by connecting data models to practical workflows (e.g., automated property screening, municipal portals, and ERP/Odoo interface connections for infrastructure).
• Multi-Tenant Architecture & Cloud Deployment: Package services into robust Docker multi-container environments and deploy them on secure European/Swiss server infrastructure (Infomaniak VPS) with strict Row-Level Security (RLS) and data privacy standards.
• Continuous Feedback Architecture: Establish data pipelines that capture operational feedback from commercial deployments to refine and advance the research models.

What We Are Looking For

• Technical Background: Degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent practical industry experience.
• Core Technical Skills:
  • Solid programming foundation in Python (FastAPI, Pandas, data handling) and/or modern Web technologies (TypeScript, React, Next.js).
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and containerization (Docker / Docker Compose).
  • Practical experience or strong interest in AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, v0.dev, LLM APIs).
• Mindset: Strong analytical curiosity, proactive problem-solving attitude, and a clean-code engineering approach.
• Eligibility: Open to local applicants and international candidates currently in Germany (e.g., Chancenkarte / Opportunity Card, Job-Seeker Visa, or EU Work Permit).
• Languages: Professional working proficiency in English (required); German language skills are a plus.
