Software Engineer -- Digital Solutions (m/w/d)

100% remote (Germany or Austria) · Permanent, full-time · €85,000--100,000

About the company

Our client is an established German manufacturer of professional security technology with a strong position across the DACH market. Their Digital Solutions organisation builds the software platform and applications that sit alongside that hardware - and it is now a strategic priority for the business rather than a side project.

The role

You will join the Digital Solutions organisation, initially working on the company's central digital platform for professional security systems: a B2B2C product used by installers and service organisations to manage companies, users, permissions, sites and installed systems, and to configure, diagnose and maintain those systems remotely.

The company is deliberately not looking for a specialist who defines themselves by one technology, framework or layer of the stack. They want an engineer who enjoys understanding the bigger picture of a product and is comfortable moving across technical boundaries when the work requires it. There is also scope to contribute across teams and to their second product over time.

What you will do

• Build and evolve real product features across frontend, backend and cloud, rather than working within one fixed boundary
• Take ownership of problems end to end, contributing to solutions rather than waiting for fully specified tickets
• Weigh technical trade-offs and explain the reasoning behind your decisions
• Consider the impact of technical choices on the product as a whole, not just the ticket in front of you
• Care for architecture, maintainability, quality and operability while still delivering value
• Work closely with Product, UX and other engineers

What you bring

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building real-world software products
• A broad engineering mindset --- not exclusively a frontend, backend, mobile or cloud developer
• Comfort working outside your strongest area and picking up unfamiliar technologies quickly
• Pragmatism: technology as a means to build a good product, not an end in itself
• Fluent German (working language) and good English
• Based in Germany or Austria

Platform (initial focus)

• Frontend: TypeScript, Angular, Nx / monorepos, Material Design, Figma
• Backend: C# / ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Bruno, BouncyCastle.Cryptography, Serilog
• Cloud & infrastructure: AWS, Auth0, OAuth2 / OpenID Connect, Dash0 / observability, Twilio / SendGrid, Google Firebase

Second product (mobile & cross-platform)

• Kotlin, Compose Multiplatform, Android, Kotlin Multiplatform / iOS
• Nice to have: Ktor, dependency injection (e.g. Koin), CI/CD experience

Strong candidates might come from C#/.NET with an interest in frontend and cloud; from TypeScript/Angular with solid backend understanding; from Kotlin/mobile with broad engineering experience; or from another modern stack with strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.

Seniority

Open. A strong mid-level engineer with the right mindset and ambition is as interesting to our client as an established senior engineer. Technical depth, breadth, ownership and potential will be assessed during the process - job titles are not the deciding factor.
