Focused Energy, a Germany-based deep-tech company, is seeking a Software Engineer to design and scale software for real-time hardware systems involved in manufacturing and positioning fusion targets. You will work with a passionate team to develop robust software and interfaces, applying best practices and modern architectures.

The role requires a degree in CS/physics/math, fluency in English, and experience with C/C++ or Python, ROS/ROS2, Linux, and databases.

What You'll Do

• Lead, organize, or support projects from start to finish
• Set and gather requirements for software and hardware projects

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or similar (Master’s degree preferred)
• Job experience preferred but not required
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
• Proficient in at least one of these programming languages: C/C++ or Python
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and best practices
• Experience with databases and Linux operating systems
• Proficient with Git for version control and team collaboration
• Preferred: Familiarity with calibration, localization, and motion planning
• Preferred: Experience with ROS/ROS2
• Preferred: Knowledge of computer vision and machine learning
• Capable of clear communication and able to work both independently and with team goals in mind
• Methodical, organized, and proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
• Strong hands-on mentality and attention to project details
• Adaptable, startup mindset, and ready to thrive in a dynamic environment
• Enjoy collaboration and working closely with colleagues
