Amazon Linux is the flagship Linux distribution of AWS. The Amazon Linux team's business is making Amazon Linux the most secure Linux distro in the cloud. We curate and maintain all OS components, including the Linux Kernel, and ship releases to our customers on frequent basis.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled engineers to design, develop, test, and operate services and components for Amazon Linux. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to drive the development of new features, resolve technical issues, and maintain a high quality service.

Amazon Linux is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations - from foundational services such as Amazon\'s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS\'s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you\'ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with Linux
• Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing technical teams
• Experience leading or developing high quality, enterprise scale software products using a structured system development lifecycle
• Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience working with end user or developer communities
• Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment
