Zusammenfassung

AI Futures in Munich is seeking a Simulation Software Engineer to own our digital twin for humanoid robotics. You will build and maintain the simulation infrastructure that our controls, RL, and hardware teams depend on daily—not just running someone else's sim.

You will extend the simulation stack (Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab) and drive SIL/HIL workflows, calibrate models to close the sim-to-real gap, and collaborate with controls and robot learning teams in a fast-moving startup.

Qualifikationen

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals in C++ and/or Python.
  • Hands-on robotics simulation experience with Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab, MuJoCo, Gazebo.
  • Robotics or humanoid robotics experience required; not for non-robotics backgrounds.
  • Understanding of rigid-body dynamics and contact physics.
  • Comfortable in a small, fast-moving early-stage team.

Aufgaben

  • Own and extend the simulation stack (Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab) by building tooling and pipelines.
  • Build/maintain a high-fidelity digital twin of the robot, including physics and actuator behavior.
  • Develop SIL and HIL workflows to validate control software before hardware.
  • Own system identification, calibrating models to track real robot behavior.
  • Create software bridges between simulation, orchestration, and data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with controls and robot learning teams to ensure sim-to-real transfer.

Jobbeschreibung

Simulation Software Engineer — Humanoid Robotics (Digital Twin)

Munich · Full-time · Competitive salary + bonus + VSOP

We're looking for a Simulation Software Engineer to own the digital twin of our partners humanoid platform. This is a software-first role: you'll be building and maintaining the simulation infrastructure that our controls, RL, and hardware teams depend on daily — not just running experiments in someone else's sim.

What you'll do
  • Own and extend our simulation stack (Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab) — build tooling, extensions, and pipelines, not just use them out of the box
  • Build and maintain a high-fidelity digital twin of the robot — physics, contact dynamics, actuator behaviour — that our team can trust as a proxy for the real hardware
  • Develop software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) workflows to validate control software before it ever touches the physical robot
  • Own system identification: tuning and calibrating simulation models so they track real robot behaviour, closing the sim-to-real gap
  • Build the software bridge connecting simulation, orchestration, and data pipelines — this is a founding-level infrastructure role, not a downstream user of tools someone else built
  • Work directly with our controls and robot learning teams to make sure policies trained in sim actually transfer to hardware
What we need
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals — C++ and/or Python, comfortable building and maintaining infrastructure, not just scripts
  • Hands-on experience with robotics simulation platforms (Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab, MuJoCo, Gazebo, or similar)
  • Robotics or humanoid robotics experience is required — this is not a role for someone coming purely from game engines, VFX, or non-robotics simulation backgrounds
  • Understanding of rigid-body dynamics, contact physics, or controls — enough to reason about why a sim model is or isn't tracking reality
  • Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving, early-stage team where you're building the function, not joining an established one
Nice to have
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 integration into simulation environments
  • Prior work on SIL/HIL validation for robotics or safety-critical systems
  • Exposure to RL training pipelines and sim-to-real transfer
