The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office seeks qualified individuals for Sheriff’s Public Safety Dispatcher II, based in Placerville, CA. You will manage 911 and emergency calls, coordinate with multiple agencies, and operate radio and computer systems to access CJIS data and relay critical information to field units.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of dispatch experience; POST certification is desirable.

Qualifikationen

  • Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school; AND One (1) year of emergency dispatching experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Sheriff’s Public Safety Dispatcher I.
  • A Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Professional Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate is desirable.

If approved at the time of hire, up to $6,000 shall be paid in equal installments for the first twenty-six (26) consecutive biweekly pay periods in the position.

Termination from employment will result in any remaining cash incentive payments being forfeited. Recruitment incentive eligibility and administration is subject to the County of El Dorado Personnel Rules. Current County of El Dorado Employees are not eligible to receive recruitment incentives.

Public Safety Dispatchers are assigned to the Public Safety Facility in Placerville, Ca and have the opportunity to serve as Communication Training Officers and Tactical Dispatchers.

The Selected Candidate Will Have The Opportunity To

Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations. Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatch II

Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school; AND One (1) year of emergency dispatching experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Sheriff’s Public Safety Dispatcher I.

Licenses And Certifications

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will screen all applications to identify qualified candidates. Those applicants who meet the minimum requirements for this position will be required to complete a pre-investigative questionnaire. Based on the information provided, applicants may be disqualified based on criteria set forth in Part 7, Section 706.1 of the County of El Dorado Personnel Rules and in conjunction with Sheriff’s Selection Policy 1000. After screening, qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the recruitment process.

Training and Experience Review:

A training and experience review consists of candidates responding to supplemental questions on the job application. A subject matter expert will evaluate each candidate's responses based on predetermined criteria. The subject matter experts are not granted access to the candidate's application; therefore, responses to the supplemental questions should be thorough, detailed, and complete.

Attend an in-person Q&A Information Session hosted at the Sheriff's Office to learn more about being a Dispatcher.

Applicants will be invited to the information session, tentatively scheduled for September 17th, 2026 at 6:30pm. While attendance is optional, it is strongly encouraged for candidates to attend to understand what the position entails. This will provide you with an opportunity to receive a realistic overview of the position to ensure this is the right position and agency for you. There will be no makeup sessions offered.
