Job summary

Vattenfall Offshore O&M Delivery team for Nordlicht Cluster seeks a skilled technician to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on the 15MW Vestas V236 turbines, stationed offshore with rotation-based scheduling from Hamburg.

The role requires an apprenticeship in electrical/mechatronics/mechanics, experience in maintenance, and willingness to work shifts in a demanding marine environment; English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• A successfully completed apprenticeship in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or mechanics is required.
• Relevant professional experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
• Practical experience with Vestas V236 15MW wind turbines is an advantage.
• Experience with medium-voltage systems or with generators/converters is advantageous.
• Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.
• Teamwork, proactivity, accuracy, and a structured work approach are second nature.
• Willingness and flexibility to work shifts.
• Physically fit and able to work at altitude and on the open sea.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance work on the foundation and wind turbines to ensure they are in optimal operating condition.
• Carry out troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components in the wind turbines.

Job description

An exciting opportunity arises to join our Offshore O&M Delivery team for the Nordlicht Cluster. The cluster consists of the two wind farms Nordlicht I and Nordlicht II, with Nordlicht I set to become Germany’s largest offshore wind farm. Key construction and logistics activities for the project will be supported via the port of Eemshaven. With a combined capacity of more than 1.6 gigawatts, the Nordlicht cluster will significantly expand renewable electricity generation in Europe and support the long‑term stability of the energy system. Once fully operational, Nordlicht will produce around 6 terawatt hours of fossil‑free electricity annually and transmit it into the German high‑voltage grid – enough to meet the equivalent electricity consumption of roughly 1.7 million German households.

What will you do?

You will become an important and permanent part of our operations & maintenance organization, participating in operational & maintenance tasks including troubleshooting on our new 15MW V236 Vestas turbine. You will be attached to the operational organization and work in job rotation on the platforms under a German working contract based in Hamburg.
