KBR is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our engineering team in Newark, Delaware. This position will support civil and site engineering design activities on industrial and infrastructure projects under the direction of a Work Group Lead and project leadership.

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for preparing engineering calculations, developing design deliverables, coordinating with other disciplines, and supporting civil engineering execution from concept development through construction. The role is focused on technical execution and offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of chemical, industrial, energy, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution

• Perform civil engineering design for assigned projects including site grading, earthworks, drainage systems, underground utilities, roads, paving, and associated infrastructure.
• Prepare civil engineering calculations, specifications, design sketches, drawing markups, and other engineering deliverables.
• Assist in the development of civil design criteria in accordance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and KBR procedures.
• Coordinate civil design activities with other engineering disciplines.
• Support the preparation and review of drawings, specifications, and material take-offs.
• Incorporate review comments and quality check comments into final deliverables.
• Assist in resolving technical issues related to site constraints, constructability, and multidisciplinary interfaces.

Project Execution & Coordination

• Execute assigned civil engineering work in accordance with project schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate with project teams to develop practical and constructible design solutions.
• Utilize geotechnical, survey, environmental, and vendor information in design development.
• Support construction activities through responses to RFIs, field changes, design clarifications, and construction support requests.
• Participate in project meetings and interdisciplinary coordination activities.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Prepare quality engineering deliverables that meet project and client requirements.
• Follow KBR engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
• Support lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives within the civil engineering group.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, and technical excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of civil engineering experience. Experience in industrial, site development, land development, municipal, or infrastructure projects is highly desirable. Candidates with experience in related civil engineering fields will also be considered.
• Experience in industrial, site development, land development, municipal, or infrastructure projects involving grading, drainage, utilities, roads, and civil design.
• Demonstrated ability to execute civil engineering assignments with limited supervision and work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain licensure in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting chemical, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with site development and utility design.
• Familiarity with multidisciplinary engineering project environments.
• Experience supporting projects through construction.
