Job summary

SIXT is seeking a senior technical product owner to lead the deep‑tech slice of the product portfolio. You will own direction, scope, and priorities for one or two products, including pricing logic and automated decisioning, while ensuring stability before moving on.

You will define what “correctness” means for systems you can’t inspect directly, determine when to ship, and set the boundaries for AI within the products, including when human oversight is required and how much confidence is enough

Qualifications

• Read code fluently and verify claims in a codebase.
• Use coding assistants, agents, and LLMs in your workflow.
• Owner of a call that impacted stakeholders; document the outcome.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems, APIs, service boundaries, and data‑intensive architectures.
• Use evidence to prioritize, define success, and cut non-essential work.
• Write a scope rationale or ADR with real examples.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

• You own the deep-tech slice of the portfolio, one or two products at a time: full ownership of direction, scope, priorities, and the call to stop doing something — Pricing logic, automated decisioning, agentic tooling where the roadmap depends on how the system behaves combined with what stakeholders ask for, and you move on only once the current product is genuinely stable
• You define correctness for systems you can't just read: some of what we build is generated or emergent enough that behavior is easier to observe than implementation is to inspect, so you define "working," design how we verify it, and call when the evidence is good enough to ship
• You set the boundaries for AI in the products themselves: automated pricing and agentic decisioning are part of what you own, not just how you work, and you decide what these systems can act on autonomously, where a human needs to be in the loop, and how much confidence we need before we trust the output
• You partner technically and document decisions: you work with engineers on feasibility, architecture, and trade‑offs, and co‑own the ADRs that make those calls durable — part of engineering is remote, so undocumented decisions don't count
• You drive technical innovation with the business: you spot what's newly possible and turn it into use cases our business stakeholders actually want, shaped together not handed down, and that same closeness lets you say no well when you have to

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

• Engineering Depth You read code fluently and dig into a codebase to verify a claim or judge a change — you'll rarely write production code, never on the critical path, but you've been close enough to it that engineers trust your judgment
• AI Fluency You already use coding assistants, agents, and LLMs as part of your workflow, and you've built or evaluated LLM-based and agentic systems enough to judge what they're doing and whether to trust the output — baseline here, not a specialism
• Decision Ownership You've owned a call that made a stakeholder unhappy, and it held — tell us the instance, the pushback, and what happened after
• Systems and Platform Judgment You have a solid grasp of distributed systems, APIs, service boundaries, and data‑intensive architectures, enough to spot coupling, failure modes, and long‑term cost
• Data-Driven Trade‑Offs You use evidence to prioritize, define success, and argue for cutting things, and you build the measurement when it doesn't exist yet
• Writing That Carries Decisions You can write a scope rationale or ADR someone outside the room can act on — bring a real example
