Job summary

Elia Grid International Berlin seeks a senior Project Engineer Manager to lead HV grid projects and develop the Berlin team. You will manage technical scope, budget, schedule and quality, while contracting with employers and subcontractors and building strong client relations at senior levels.

The role emphasizes international business development and KPI‑driven delivery. You will mentor the project team, drive training, ensure safety, and continuously develop expertise to reinforce EGI's market

Qualifications

• Diploma or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience with at least 5 years in a managing position.
• Proven experiences in primary technology, secondary systems, control and protection systems for medium- to high-voltage installations, ideally in project implementation.
• Proven track record in project management. Certification (PMI/Prince2) is a strong plus.
• Strong team player and leader with coaching ability.
• Excellent command of German and fluent in English.
• Willingness to travel abroad (20%).

• Contribute to resource planning, workload forecasting and staff allocation.
• Promote exchange with other projects and teams; organize training programs (e.g., safety) for the team and Berlin office.

Your function

With your extensive experience in Electrical Engineering for HV/UHV grid and proven track record in project management you will take responsibility over a group of strong Project Engineers and on the implementation of large HVAC/HVDC transmission projects.

Your responsibilities will include the active management of your projects’ business cases and the development of the team dedicated to your project(s). You also support the management of the company in steering the business along the company’s KPI’s.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• You lead and develop the project team members (hierarchical responsibility)
• You take the full operational lead of large project(s) from proposal stage to realization in all relevant dimension of technical scope, financial budget, timeline and quality.
• You negotiate contracts and manage these contracts – both with employers but also with subcontractors – and you establish strong interfaces with all contracting parties along the project lifecycle
• You take care of the team performance and you maintain a positive good feedback and development culture
• You actively engage and interact with internal and external stakeholders and you establish a trusted relationship with the client’s senior managers
• You actively contribute to the business development activities of the companies along your specific expertise domain – this concerns “internal” business development with EGI’s clients in the Elia Group but also the development of external business on international level
• You make sure that your project(s) contribute to the overall objectives and KPIs of the company
• You contribute to the resource planning, workload forecast and allocation of staff
• You promote exchange with other projects and teams in the company
• You will organize and execute training programs for your team and the Berlin office (e.g. Safety training)
• You continuously develop the required expertise in your domain to support the company’s positioning in the market

The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach and will be committed to the expansion and success of the business by implementing strategies that increase productivity and enable sales targets achievement.

Your Profile

• Diploma or master’s degree in electrical engineering;
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience with a minimum of 5 years in a managing position;
• Proven experiences in primary technology, secondary systems, control and protection systems for medium- to high-voltage installations, ideally in project implementation;
• Proven track record in project management. Applied skill in state-the-art project management methods, certification is a strong plus (e.g. PMI or Prince2)
• Strong team player and leader with ability and interest in coaching of team members;
• Effective communication skill in order to connect with internal and external stakeholders, esp. at decision making level
• A capacity for creative, conceptual thought and the ability to swiftly and efficiently familiarise yourself with new and highly complex issues;
• Knowledge of and experience in the application of conflict resolution methods;
• Excellent command of German
• Fluent in English
• Mobility and flexibility, willing to travel abroad depending on project needs (20%)
