Alstom in Hamburg or Berlin is seeking a Senior System Engineer & Requirements Lead to drive end-to-end requirements engineering for a major CBTC project. You will own the strategy, governance, traceability and change management across the lifecycle, ensuring alignment with customer and system requirements.

You will work with system architects, safety, V&V and project teams, leading requirements activities, improving processes and providing technical leadership in a global mobility

Qualifikationen

• University degree in Systems Engineering or a closely related field.
• Extensive experience in railway signalling, CBTC or safety‑critical systems.
• Proven leadership of requirements activities on large technical projects.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next or Polarion.
• Fluent German and English with strong stakeholder communication.

As the Senior System Engineer & Requirements Lead for a major CBTC project, you will be the technical authority responsible for the end‑to‑end requirements engineering framework across the project lifecycle. You will own the requirements strategy, governance, traceability, change management, compliance and quality processes, ensuring that customer, system, subsystem and product requirements remain fully aligned and controlled.

This is not a purely administrative requirements management position. We are looking for a technically strong Systems Engineer who understands complex railway systems, can navigate system architecture and interfaces, and can drive requirements engineering activities at project level.

You will act as the key point of contact for all requirements‑related matters, collaborating closely with system architects, engineering managers, design authorities, safety, V&V, project management and customer stakeholders.

We'll look for you to:

• Lead and own the complete requirements engineering process for a complex CBTC project
• Define and implement the project requirements management strategy, governance framework and processes
• Ensure full traceability from customer requirements through system, subsystem, software and hardware requirements to verification and validation activities
• Drive requirements decomposition and allocation across multiple engineering disciplines
• Collaborate with system architects and engineering teams to ensure consistency between requirements, system architecture and technical solutions
• Establish and maintain requirements baselines, change control processes and configuration management interfaces
• Assess technical impacts of requirement changes on scope, design, safety, schedule, cost and project risks
• Ensure high‑quality requirements specifications through reviews, validation activities and stakeholder alignment
• Act as the project's senior expert for requirements engineering methodologies, best practices and tool usage
• Support technical decision‑making through requirements analysis, gap analysis and impact assessments
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems engineering and requirements management processes
• Interface directly with customers, partners and key stakeholders on technical and contractual requirements topics

All About You

• University degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Railway Engineering or a comparable technical discipline
• Experience in railway signalling, CBTC, ETCS, interlocking systems or other safety‑critical transportation systems
• Significant experience in Systems Engineering within complex, multidisciplinary engineering environments and knowledge of Systems Engineering standards and methodologies
• Proven experience leading requirements engineering activities on large-scale technical projects
• Strong understanding of requirements decomposition, verification, validation and traceability principles
• Experience managing requirements throughout the complete system lifecycle
• Demonstrated capability to understand and challenge technical solutions at system level
• Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion or equivalent
• Experience with configuration management, change control and system integration activities
• Familiarity with RAMS, Safety, Verification & Validation processes
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across engineering and project organisations
• Ability to work autonomously as the senior focal point for requirements management within a project
• Fluent German and English
