Zalando is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and implement scalable microservices that connect e-commerce platforms with our logistics ecosystem. You will own end-to-end development, from architecture decisions to testing and deployment, in a fast-paced, startup-like agile environment.

You will work with Java and Spring Boot on AWS, discuss API designs, and collaborate across teams to deliver robust solutions. Emphasis on ownership, security, and high-quality code.

As a Senior Software Engineer at ZEOS, Zalando’s B2B Logistics unit developing Europe’s leading Logistics Platform recently launched under the ZEOS Logistics brand, you will be part of a team working on designing technical solutions to connect various e-commerce platforms seamlessly with the robust logistics ecosystem of ZEOS.

You will ensure that all our operational processes like warehousing, inventory management, inventory distribution, deliveries and returns can be steered on various e-commerce platforms. You will have the chance to learn about the broad business background we’re working with. In line with the overall Zalando philosophy you bring visibility and transparency to processes and thus have a huge impact on our customers and key stakeholders.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• You work regularly with others to ensure the right software/engineering design approaches and methodologies are applied.

• Design, develop, deploy, operate and improve software solutions that have a direct impact on our daily business with our partners.

• Discuss and design APIs and integrated solutions.

• Based on our microservices architecture, you and your team will own your code, and decide on the technologies and tools to deliver as well as operate large-scale applications on AWS.

• Working like a startup in an agile environment & taking ownership for the whole development cycle - from architecture design to testing to implementation & maintenance. Write applications from scratch with the latest technologies free of your choice.

• Shape and champion an inclusive culture and diverse team environment.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• 7+ years of software engineering experience

• You have a deep understanding of microservice architecture, REST services and API design. Good knowledge of security concepts. Highly versed in deploying and operating applications in a cloud infrastructure.

• You are highly skilled as a Java Developer. Proven experience in frameworks like Spring Boot. Ideally you have experience with a distributed event store such as Apache Kafka.

• You have some experience with Frontend technologies like JavaScript (ES6 / ES2015), React, Typescript, Webpack, CSS/HTML, showing interest in full stack development.

• You have a good understanding of PostgreSQL and cloud architectures/platforms (preferably AWS). Check our Tech Radar for more information on the technologies we use at Zalando.

• Demonstrated strong sense of ownership, entrepreneurial & analytical thinking add to your excellent communication skills.

• Ideally, you have experience integrating third-party services, such as through developing or working with middleware solutions.

• Shopify or other e-commerce experience is a merit.
