Zusammenfassung

Aiven is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Analytics to help build our cloud operations platform and new managed analytics offering. You’ll work on PostgreSQL services as part of a globally distributed team delivering reliable, scalable cloud data solutions.

You’ll write high-quality Python, optimize OLTP/OLAP workloads, contribute to architecture and testing, mentor engineers, and automate processes to reduce manual work while ensuring security and performance.

Qualifikationen

• Excellent development skills in Python.
• 5+ years of experience with databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server or OracleDB.
• Experience in data engineering, building ETL pipelines and handling large-scale datasets.
• Good understanding of data modeling, schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with backup solutions and backup strategies.
• Advanced understanding of Linux OS.
• Experience with automated testing.
• Distributed systems knowledge.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Analytics to work on our cloud operations platform turning the best open-source technologies into frustration-free cloud services. You’ll be part of the team that is focused on developing the PostgreSQL services and building out our new managed analytics offering.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between traditional transactional databases and analytical processing. Our philosophy is to automate everything and to avoid repetitive manual work in everything we do. Our own backend systems are mostly implemented in Python with bits of Java, Go and C.

What You’ll Do

• Write high-quality, maintainable code and release quality features.
• Participate in technical discussions and perform PR reviews.

What We’re Looking For

Must Have

• Excellent development skills in Python.
• 5+ years of experience working with at least one of these databases – PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, OracleDB.
• Experience in data engineering, including building ETL pipelines and working with large-scale datasets.
• Good understanding of data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience with backup solutions and backup strategies.
• Advanced understanding of Linux OS.
• Experience with automated testing.
• Distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience with performance improvements, bug fixes, and security vulnerability resolution.
• Fluency in English, verbal and written.

Nice to Have

• Good understanding of security (software, networking).
• Experience with OLAP technologies, columnar databases, stream processing or distributed computing engines.
• Experience in infrastructure as code.
• Experience in cloud DBAAS production environments.
• Experience in production software environments.
