Jobbeschreibung
Your mission

The position is an expert role with a strong focus on the active, hands‑on execution and ownership of quality assurance activities across multiple product and solution components. Beyond executing testing, the role is expected to proactively drive QA initiatives, continuously strengthen our overall QA methodology, and champion improvements where needed.

About the Role

The Quality Engineer will take the lead in defining expected product behavior, designing and maintaining test scenarios, identifying deviations, and driving their resolution in close collaboration with development teams. As we already have one Quality Engineer primarily focused on the frontend, this role will complement and expand our QA capabilities, ideally by taking ownership of quality topics across both frontend and backend components.

Your Responsibilities :
  • Proactively drive QA topics across the organization, ensuring quality considerations are embedded early in requirements definition, architecture discussions, and design decisions
  • Take ownership of quality governance, defining and refining QA methodologies, standards, and best practices across frontend, backend, and data components
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to define expected product behavior, clarify acceptance criteria, and ensure testability in new and existing features
  • Lead cross‑functional discussions to align on quality risks, mitigation strategies, and release readiness
  • Build, maintain, and optimise tests, datasets, and tooling needed for reliable and scalable QA execution
  • Mentor and guide other team members by promoting quality awareness, sharing testing expertise, and supporting the growth of QA capabilities
  • Take initiative in identifying gaps in current QA coverage, proposing and implementing solutions that improve overall product robustness
  • Support developers by evaluating and adopting new QA tools, frameworks, and technologies to increase efficiency and quality
  • Drive the maintenance of quality metrics and reporting, providing clear visibility into product quality status and trends
  • Ensure that backend services and data pipelines follow robust validation and monitoring practices
  • Act as a key contributor to release management, validating readiness, coordinating defect triage, and influencing go / no‑go decisions
Your profile
What is required? :
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, code quality, and code review processes.
  • Good understanding of both frontend (e.g. React, NodeJS), backend‑related (e.g. databases, SQL)
  • Experience with software quality assurance and test automation tools for the above areas (e.g., Xray, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, k6, Grafana, SonarQube or comparable)
  • Capability to build up a structured software test pyramid approach (unit, integration and E2E tests) with respective quality gates
  • Ability to perform QA work hands‑on, e.g. write custom scripts to test APIs, databases, and specific components
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI / CD pipelines and tools (e.g. GitLab CI)
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
Nice to have :
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) for test result visualization and tracking
  • Knowledge of data science and machine learning
  • Knowledge of big data pipeline technologies (e.g. Trino, Flink, Apache Kafka)
  • Knowledge of big data and IoT applications in the context of heavy machines
  • Knowledge of hardware (related in particular to data logging and edge computing) and related embedded software
