Job summary

exmox is hiring a Senior QA Engineer to own quality across features, building automation and gates that let us ship fast and right. You will work closely with engineering and product, shaping test strategy, risk-based quality and continuous deployment in a fast-growing mobile gaming platform.

In Hamburg, this not remote role offers a flexible hybrid model: home on Mondays and Fridays, office Tue–Thu. If you love solving complex systems, data-driven decisions and driving high-velocity delivery

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on QA across backend, frontend and API-driven systems.
• Experience with continuous deployment and adapting test strategies as scope, risk and timelines change.
• Strong test design toolkit including risk-based testing and exploratory testing.
• Deep hands-on experience with Playwright in Python and API test automation, especially GraphQL.
• Design frameworks that scale and stay maintainable.
• Excellent communication with developers, product and management.

As Senior QA Engineer (f/m/x) you won't just be running test cases at the end of a sprint. You'll own quality across our features, building the automation and quality gates that let us ship fast and ship right, working close to engineering and product and seeing the impact of your work in production. What You’ll Own

• Test strategy & planning: You design test strategies and test plans that fit the product, the risk and the delivery speed. You adjust them as priorities shift, so testing speeds delivery up instead of slowing it down.
• Risk-based quality in continuous deployment: You decide where testing effort pays off most. You combine automated checks, exploratory sessions and targeted regression so we can release often and with confidence.
• Functional & API test automation: You build, extend and maintain our automation with Playwright (Python) and API test suites. You also own the infrastructure behind them: test environments, test data, reporting and pipeline integration.
• CI/CD integration: Your tests run in our CI/CD pipelines as fast, reliable quality gates. They're stable and quick, and people trust their results.
• Bug hunting & defect management: You find, document and track defects, including the subtle ones that only show up with a specific timing, a specific piece of data or a user who does something unexpected. Your feedback is early, clear and easy for developers to act on.
• Collaboration & QA processes: You join refinements, product and tech discussions and collaborate closely with developers and PMs. You question requirements before they turn into bugs, and you push our QA methods, practices and workflows forward.

• Developers and product managers bring you in early because your input saves them time and trouble.
• The automation suite is fast, stable and maintainable, and it catches regressions before users do.

• You turn testing challenges into structured, repeatable processes that support fast, safe and reliable releases.
• You've made quality a shared responsibility across the tech team, not something QA handles alone.

What You Bring

• Senior QA experience: You have 5+ years of hands-on QA experience with backend, frontend and API-driven systems, in fast-moving teams that ship continuously.
• High-velocity, high-quality delivery: You've worked with continuous deployment, and you know how to adapt test strategies as scope, risk and timelines change.
• Strong test design toolkit: You're confident with a wide range of test methods and techniques, such as risk-based testing and exploratory testing, and you know when each one is the right tool. You also know about AI testing approaches.
• Functional & API automation expertise: You have deep hands-on experience with Playwright in Python and API test automation, especially GraphQL. You design frameworks that scale and stay maintainable.
• Test planning & efficient delivery: You're great at planning, prioritizing and scoping test work so it delivers the most value within real-world time limits.
• A relentless quality mindset: You feel a genuine urge to find the last hidden bug. You're curious, sceptical in a productive way and detail-oriented, and you take full ownership of the quality of what we ship.
• Problem solving & root cause analysis: You quickly identify issues, dig into logs, data and system behaviour to find the real root cause, and propose effective solutions that stop the problem from coming back, instead of just fixing the symptom.
• Communication & QA standing: You explain risks and quality trade-offs clearly to developers, product and management. You stand up for quality with confidence and good judgement, and you win people over with arguments rather than blocking them.
• Tooling & collaboration: You're comfortable with Git and modern branching strategies, and with agile teams that include developers, product managers and DevOps.
