Senior Project Manager – Construction (BESS) | Germany (m / w / d)

I’m currently working with a well backed, fast growing energy storage developer that’s expanding its footprint across Germany and wider Europe. They’re looking to hire a Senior Project Manager (Construction) to take ownership of a flagship BESS project in Germany , with longer term exposure to European projects as the portfolio scales.

This is a senior, end to end delivery role sitting on the owner / developer side , ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, responsibility, and complex infrastructure projects at scale.

The Role

You’ll lead the construction delivery of large scale battery storage projects, working across EPC and multi contract strategies, and acting as the key interface between technical, contractual, and local stakeholder groups.

Key responsibilities include :

• End to end project management of utility scale BESS projects
• Managing EPC and major construction contracts (cost, schedule, quality, claims)
• Acting as the on site interface with local authorities, municipalities, landowners, and stakeholders
• Ensuring compliance with German permitting and environmental requirements (BImSchG)
• Leading technical coordination with German TSOs alongside senior technical leadership
• Full project controls ownership (budgeting, risk registers, reporting, trackers)
• Oversight of safety coordination (SiGeKo) in line with BaustellV
• Managing the Owner’s Engineer and technical assurance process
• Translating technical and regulatory developments into clear, commercial reporting for senior leadership (Germany & UK)

Additional Scope (for the right profile)

• Technical due diligence on projects moving from development into construction
• Supporting procurement and tendering processes, including supplier negotiations
• Involvement in project financing and lender technical due diligence
• Potential exposure to projects outside Germany as the portfolio grows

Your Background

• Degree in Engineering / Electrical Engineering (or strong equivalent experience)
• Proven experience as a Project Manager , ideally on the client / owner side or with a Tier 1 contractor
• Experience delivering large scale electricity or grid connected infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of construction, contracts, and risk management
• Confident leading experienced site teams and engaging with senior stakeholders
• Willingness to travel regularly to site

Languages (essential) :

• German – Business fluent (written & spoken)
• English – Business fluent (written & spoken)
