Zusammenfassung

Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites. We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to design, prototype, and launch CivGov and Commercial Solutions, shaping how users interact with Planet’s Earth Observation data.

You will bridge platform capabilities with customer outcomes, define jobs-to-be-done, and craft end-to-end flows. Join a collaborative team in a hybrid Berlin/Haarlem setting and contribute to AI-powered, geospatial UX innovation.

Qualifikationen

• 6+ years designing complex SaaS or B2B products from ideation to launch.
• Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent field.
• End-to-end experience from ideation to live software with iterative improvements.
• A strong portfolio showing process and impact on complex projects.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing, translating findings into improvements.
• Experience designing data-heavy apps, ideally with AI-powered tools or geospatial visualization.
• Core skills: UX/UI, interaction design, rapid prototyping, accessibility, visual design; proficient in Figma and design systems.
• Ability to work quickly in undefined/ambiguous environments.
• Experience with GIS, geospatial data, or remote sensing.
• AI-native mindset, using AI tools for ideation, design, or prototyping.
• Proven ownership and problem-solving across teams.
• Strong empathy for users and stakeholders, balancing usability with business needs.

Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history.

Key Responsibilities

• We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to design, prototype, and launch CivGov and Commercial Solutions and define how users interact with and derive insights from Planet’s satellite Earth Observation (EO) data.
• In this role, you will bridge the gap between Planet’s platform capabilities and valuable customer outcomes. With a relentless focus on the user, you will define user profiles, establish jobs-to-be-done, and design end-to-end user flows for high-value market opportunities. You will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to decompose these workflows into scalable, reusable UX building blocks, ultimately crafting cohesive, customer-centric solutions.
• This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our Berlin or Haarlem office 3 days per week.

Requirements

• 6+ years designing complex SaaS or B2B products, taking projects from early ideation to launch.
• Bachelor’s degree in design or an equivalent field.
• End-to-end experience, in terms of taking projects from early ideation to live software, and iterating based on feedback.
• A solid portfolio displaying complex professional projects, your process, and the resulting impact.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing, synthesizing findings into actionable improvements.
• A track record of designing sophisticated, data-heavy applications, ideally featuring AI-powered tools or geospatial data visualization.
• A solid core skillset: UX/UI, interaction design, rapid prototyping, accessibility, and visual design principles. Proficiency in Figma and enterprise design systems.
• Ability to work quickly in undefined and ambiguous environments.
• Experience with GIS, geospatial data, or remote sensing.
• An AI-native mindset, utilizing AI tools for creative ideation, design, or prototype generation.
• A track record of taking ownership to communicate and solve complex, systemic problems.
• Deep empathy for both end-users and internal stakeholders, expertly balancing usability with business needs.
