Zusammenfassung

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated QSP modelling expert to join the Global Clinical Pharmacology - Pharmacometrics group in a hybrid format in Germany (Ingelheim or Biberach). You will develop and apply mechanistic QSP models to inform evidence-based decisions in clinical drug development and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

The role demands PhD-level expertise, hands-on QSP experience, and strong communication across stakeholders, with opportunities to drive innovation

Qualifikationen

  • PhD or equivalent advanced degree in systems pharmacology, pharmacometrics, clinical pharmacology, computational biology, bioengineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Several years of hands-on professional experience in QSP modelling in the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory authorities, or relevant academic research.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanistic modelling in clinical drug development, including model development, calibration, qualification, simulation, sensitivity analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Experience with R and/or MATLAB/SimBiology, Julia, OSP Suite, or comparable tools; statistics for nonclinical/clinical data is beneficial.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex modelling concepts clearly to multidisciplinary audiences.
  • Proven collaboration skills in international, multidisciplinary teams and ability to interact with stakeholders, CROs, vendors, and leadership.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Aufgaben

  • Lead and execute QSP modelling projects within multidisciplinary systems pharmacology, pharmacometrics, and drug development teams.
  • Develop, qualify, apply, and communicate fit-for-purpose QSP models integrating non-clinical, translational, biomarker, and clinical data.
  • Translate biological and pharmacological knowledge into quantitative model structures, assumptions, and simulations.
  • Define and drive QSP modelling strategies aligned with project objectives and robust analyses.
  • Provide independent advice on complex modelling challenges and represent QSP in cross-functional discussions.
  • Offer scientific leadership throughout model development, qualification, and external collaborations.
  • Drive innovation and standardization in modelling methods and digitalization, overseeing external modelling activities.

Tasks & responsibilities
  • In your new role, you will lead and execute clinical Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) modelling projects within multidisciplinary systems pharmacology, pharmacometrics, and drug development teams, driving model-informed decision making across development programs
  • Additionally, you will develop, qualify, apply, and communicate fit-for-purpose QSP models that integrate non-clinical, translational, biomarker, and clinical data to address critical scientific and development questions
  • You will also translate biological and pharmacological knowledge into quantitative model structures, assumptions, and simulations, generating actionable insights while clearly communicating model limitations, uncertainties, and their potential impact
  • Furthermore, you will define and drive QSP modelling strategies aligned with project objectives, delivering scientifically robust analyses and interpretations to support clinical development decisions
  • You will provide independent advice on complex mechanistic modelling challenges and represent QSP expertise in cross-functional scientific, technical, and strategic discussions
  • Beyond this, you will provide scientific leadership and guidance throughout model-development, qualification, application, and communication activities while fostering collaboration across internal teams and external partners
  • Finally, you will drive innovation, standardization, and digitalization in mechanistic modelling and simulation by evaluating, developing, and implementing novel methodologies, tools, and technologies, while overseeing external modelling activities to ensure scientific excellence and strategic alignment
Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent advanced degree in systems pharmacology, pharmacometrics, clinical pharmacology, computational biology, bioengineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • Several years of hands-on professional experience in QSP modelling in the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory authorities, or relevant academic research
