Lumenaza is seeking a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer in Berlin to own platform stability, operations, automation, and CI/CD evolution. This hands-on role focuses on Kubernetes, Linux, production tooling, and learning to work with AI-assisted development within a growing energy tech platform.
You will balance reliability with rapid iteration, collaborating across teams to improve self-service workflows, runbooks, and documentation while maintaining strong on-site presence in Berlin.
Lumenaza is a GreenTech company developing software for the decentralized energy world. Our platform enables energy providers to efficiently manage billing, market communication, and energy data, supporting scalable renewable energy business models.
Our mission is clear: to actively drive the energy transition forward. At the same time, we foster collaboration, diversity, and continuous learning.
We believe software engineering will change more in the coming years than it has in the last twenty. AI-assisted and agentic development will play a central role in this transformation. As an engineering organization, we want to actively shape this future and are looking for people who enjoy working on both stable production systems and the evolution of modern engineering practices.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to take ownership of platform stability, operations, automation, and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone who thrives in complex environments. You do not need to know every tool in our stack from day one. What matters most are strong fundamentals in Kubernetes and Linux, experience operating production systems, structured troubleshooting skills, and the ability to quickly learn and navigate unfamiliar systems.
You will not only operate the platform—you will help shape it for a future in which developers increasingly collaborate with AI agents.
Treat the platform as an internal product and continuously improve it, working closely with development teams to enable efficient, standardized, and self-service workflows, as well as systems that are easy to deploy, support, and operate.
Take ownership of the stability and operation of core platform and infrastructure components.
Contribute to containerization, infrastructure, automation, and CI/CD processes based on Docker and Docker Compose to ensure stable, standardized, and repeatable operations.
Critically assess existing systems, processes, and architectures with a focus on risks, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
Standardize and gradually consolidate evolving platform structures.
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, and architecture overviews.
Prepare for and support internal and external audits by establishing transparency, traceability, and compliance-oriented documentation.
Advance monitoring, alerting, observability, and operational transparency, including establishing and standardizing observability practices based on OpenTelemetry and Prometheus.
Several years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a comparable infrastructure-focused role.
Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Linux, containers, and production operations.
Experience with incident response, production debugging, monitoring, logging, and operational decision-making.
Solid understanding of CI/CD, deployment automation, and infrastructure automation.
Ability to work within complex system landscapes, identify root causes, and implement sustainable improvements.
Strong English communication skills and willingness to collaborate regularly with the team in Berlin.
Experience with different cloud or IaaS provider environments.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code and deployment tooling.
Experience with observability, logging, or metrics platforms.
Experience with platform networking, service routing, authentication, or access management.
Experience with backup, recovery, database, or storage-related operational topics.
German language skills for day-to-day collaboration.
