Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH in Ingelheim am Rhein seeks a Senior Patient Safety Physician CRM to lead global patient safety strategy. The position involves a hybrid setup with 2–3 days on site, leading PV activities, safety analyses, regulatory documents, and strategic committees to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor with long-standing clinical or research experience.
• Profound experience in pharmacovigilance and Risk Management in a pharmaceutical company on a global level.
• Thorough understanding of PV regulation in major markets.
• Experience in clinical development and submissions for marketing authorization would be an asset.
• Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement proactive, patient-centric risk management strategies for assigned compounds, ensuring alignment with global safety standards.
• Lead all pharmacovigilance activities for designated products, planning, execution, and oversight up to POC.
• Establish and refine safety analyses within clinical trial and safety databases to support monitoring.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance the benefit-risk profile by integrating clinical data and patient insights.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address safety concerns and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Prepare regulatory documents such as DSURs and trial-related documents with accuracy and compliance.
• Chair the multidisciplinary Asset Benefit-Risk Team and participate in regulatory interactions.

Lead the Future of Medicine – as Senior Patient Safety Physician CRM

Lead global patient safety strategy and shape the development of innovative medicines. As a Senior Patient Safety Physician, you will provide medical and strategic leadership across clinical development and pharmacovigilance activities, driving benefit-risk assessments and patient safety strategies for compounds in development and marketed products.

Working within a global, cross-functional environment, you will play a key role in enabling informed development decisions and bringing meaningful therapeutic innovations to patients worldwide.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site.

Tasks & responsibilities

• As part of your role, you will design and implement proactive, patient-centric risk management strategies for assigned compounds, ensuring alignment with global safety standards.
• Leading all pharmacovigilance activities for your designated products, you will be responsible for planning, execution, and continuous oversight up to POC.
• To support effective safety monitoring, you will establish and refine safety analyses within clinical trial and safety databases.
• A key aspect of your work involves continuously evaluating and enhancing the benefit-risk profile of your products by integrating clinical data and patient insights.
• You will engage in close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to address safety concerns and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
• Your medical-scientific expertise will be essential in preparing regulatory documents such as DSURs, and trial related documents such as investigator’s brochure, clinical trial protocols, clinical reports ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• In your senior capacity, you will chair the multidisciplinary Asset Benefit-Risk Team and represent Experimental Medicine Patient Safety in strategic committees and regulatory interactions.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor with long-standing clinical or research experience, experience in CRM (cardio renal metabolic) therapeutic area would be an asset.
• Profound experience in pharmacovigilance and Risk Management in a pharmaceutical company on a global / corporate level, including clinical development and post-marketing safety.
• Thorough understanding of PV regulation in major markets and respective need for compliance.
• Experience in clinical development and submissions for marketing authorization would be an asset.
• Very good and broad understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, and the future trends and developments including pharmacovigilance.
• Strong ethical sense combined with quality and patient safety mindset.
• Profund Project Management competencies with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
