Description

Would you like to work in one of the world's most prominent and entrepreneurial technology and engineering businesses while helping to drive client satisfaction as part of one of EPAM's core business units? EPAM is looking for a technically hands-on German and English speaking Senior Enterprise Solution Architect with strong Life Sciences industry experience. You will work in a Life Science Delivery team long-term and be comfortable traveling to client sites in DACH several times a month. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with EPAM's senior Tech Leaders, our Global Architects/Engineers, and clients, supporting them in navigating a rapidly developing technology landscape. The role requires a background in technology consulting, solution architecture, software development, client engagement, and stakeholder management. Our Solution Architects must be able to initiate discussions, identify technology needs, recommend suitable technology choices, and communicate/deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of innovative solutions that address the needs of life science and medical technology clients.
  • Design and develop technical solutions for core client projects.
  • Provide guidance through the complexity of solution architecture options and the long-term roadmap for the solutions.
  • Balance innovation, technical feasibility, and long-term sustainability.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams locally and globally at EPAM and various clients.
  • Create and present proof-of-concepts and architecture proposals, and support pre-sales and RFP processes within a technology consultancy framework.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with relevant regulatory requirements such as FDA, HIPAA, and GDPR.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in Life Sciences and MedTech.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience in hands-on Solution Architecture or a related role with a strong foundation in Software Engineering.
  • Experience in the Life Sciences industry is essential.
  • Fluency in German and English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Strong experience working in a consultative environment as an SME, linking technology with business value, and guiding clients on technology choices.
  • Experience with greenfield, lift-and-shift, and migration projects.
  • Experience with Microservice architecture, enterprise services, REST APIs, event-driven technology, and native Cloud services (preferably Azure).
  • Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies.
  • Understanding of Agile delivery, pre-sales, RFPs, and POCs.
  • Ability to lead and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams at EPAM and with clients, including C-level management globally.

Nice to have

  • Experience in regulated environments for life sciences, such as medicine or medical device development lifecycle, and its impact on architecture.
  • Experience integrating with COTS clinical trial platforms (e.g., Medidata, Veeva, Oracle, Parexel).
  • Experience with healthcare provider platforms and interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, XDS).
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) and related technologies like FHIR, openEHR.
  • Experience designing Connected Care Platforms.
  • Understanding of ISO and IEC standards for SaMD.
  • Experience with big data in biopharma and MedTech, implementing FAIR data principles.
  • Client-side experience in architecture transformation for large biopharma or MedTech companies, CROs, or suppliers.
  • Broad domain knowledge of LS/HC sectors, especially with deep expertise in therapeutic areas like anti-cancer, anti-infectives, or neurological.
