Partners Group seeks a (Senior) Legal Counsel, Data Privacy & Technology to join its Corporate Legal team. The role focuses on GDPR compliance, data privacy strategy, and technology-law expertise across global operations in Europe.

You will advise management, draft critical contracts, and lead privacy initiatives. Based in Munich or other Europe hubs, the role offers broad exposure to high-impact projects, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and opportunities to shape privacy governance

Qualifikationen

  • Law degree and bar admission to practice
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR and privacy risk management
  • Proven ability to draft/negotiate technology and commercial contracts
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Fluent English; German is an advantage

Aufgaben

  • Be a strategic advisor to stakeholders on data privacy, AI, cybersecurity and technology law
  • Drive and continuously improve GDPR compliance and related frameworks
  • Lead negotiation and drafting of MSAs, tech and HR contracts, including DPAs and TIAs
  • Build and evolve data protection governance: policies, procedures, templates and decision-making frameworks
  • Lead the legal response to data breaches and data subject requests with cross-functional teams
  • Deliver privacy training and promote a privacy-by-design culture
  • Steer global privacy initiatives and act as an internal subject matter expert
  • Manage external counsel and coordinate with regulators as needed

Partners Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced (Senior) Legal Counsel, Data Privacy & Technology to join its Corporate Legal team in Zug, Munich or London. In this role, you will help shape the firm’s approach to data privacy and technology law across its global operations, with a particular focus on Europe and the GDPR.

You will advise on compliance with data privacy regulations, support technology-related legal matters, and work closely with management and key stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risks. The role offers broad exposure to strategically important, high-impact projects, as well as significant scope to take ownership and drive meaningful change.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Be a strategic advisor to stakeholders (including senior management) ondata privacy, AI, cybersecurity and technology law
  • Drive and continuously improve GDPR compliance (and related frameworks), flagging emerging risks early and proposing practical responses
  • Lead negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements (e.g.,MSAs, tech and HR contracts), includingDPAs and TIAs
  • Build and evolve data protection governance: policies, procedures, templates and decision-making frameworks that scale globally
  • Lead the legal response todata breaches and data subject requests, coordinating with relevant functions
  • Create and deliver privacy training and awareness that actually sticks and supports a privacy-by-design culture
  • Steer global privacy initiatives and act as an internal subject matter expert people want to involve early
  • Manage external counsel efficiently and serve as a key contact point for regulators/public authorities when needed
What we expect
  • Law degree and bar admission (Swiss bar admission a plus)
  • 4–10 yearsof relevant experience (international law firm and/or in-house; financial services and/or tech exposure preferred)
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge ofGDPRand privacy risk management in real-world business settings
  • Proven strength in drafting/negotiating technology and commercial contracts, including privacy and data transfer provisions
  • Confident judgment under pressure (e.g., incident response) with the ability to balance legal risk, urgency, and business priorities
  • Clear communicator who can simplify complex topics and influence decisions across levels and functions
  • Organised, pragmatic, improvement-minded—someone who leaves things better than they found them
  • Fluent English; German is an advantage
