Zusammenfassung

Caelora, a Munich-based company advancing high-energy laser technology, is seeking a PhD or Master’s level laser scientist to design and develop ultra-high intensity laser systems. You will own dedicated projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Marvel Fusion to push the technology forward.

You will perform simulations, establish technical specifications, and guide commissioning and acceptance testing at lab and client sites.

Qualifikationen

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with high-power laser systems and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with simulations for ultra-short, high‑intensity laser systems and validating models.
  • Industrial integration of laser systems or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Experience applying industrial standards.
  • Willingness to reside in the greater Munich area and travel.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Aufgaben

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in the development, assembly, and operation of key components for the next generation of highly efficient, high‑average‑power, ultra‑intense lasers.
  • Perform calculations and simulations for OPCPAs and high‑energy diode‑pumped solid‑state laser systems, and contribute to the overall laser system design, owning the energy, dispersion, nonlinear phase and fluence budgets
  • Collaborate with the engineering team in designing and constructing laser (sub‑)systems.
  • Interact with external partners to steer and monitor their performance, e.g., by working with our R&D Team and leading optics manufacturers to advance the current state of the art in optical technology, and own the interfaces from what suppliers deliver through to technical acceptance
  • Derive and own the technical specifications for the procurement of hardware, ranging from small, machined parts to large optical components from both local and international suppliers, with measurable requirements and verification methods, and assist the procurement team throughout the sourcing process.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements and research trends in laser technologies by attending conferences and publishing findings in scientific journals
  • Own the temporal contrast and prepulse budget across the chain
  • Own the fluence budget and damage margin: specify coatings and qualify optics against measured LIDT before they are installed
  • Lead commissioning and acceptance testing, in our laboratory and on customer sites, including the handover
  • Design for a system that will be built more than once: reproducible alignment, documented procedures, and performance a customer can recover without us
  • Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative team environment in which all team members feel supported, valued, and heard.
