BITA, a Fintech company in Frankfurt, seeks a Senior Index Specialist to own and automate index operations, including calculation, dissemination, and monitoring. You will produce Python-based validation scripts and lead corporate actions automation, working closely with IT and operations to improve efficiency and data integrity.

We are looking for a Senior Index Specialist to join our team in Frankfurt, reporting to BITA's COO and Head of Index Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and automate the configuration, calculation, and dissemination of both proprietary and third-party mandated indexes.
• Drive process improvement initiatives across index operations, identifying manual touchpoints and replacing them with scalable automation.
• Develop, maintain, and productionize Python scripts for data validation, corporate actions processing, calculation workflows, and exception handling.
• Take full ownership of corporate actions automation and work closely with operations and corporate action management on implementation.
• Own index monitoring operations, building proactive alerting and validation frameworks to ensure data integrity and dissemination reliability.
• Work closely with BITA's IT team to specify, architect, and implement new features and enhancements for the calculation and dissemination system, with a focus on operational efficiency.
• Ensure customer success for BITA's index calculation clients by providing operational reliability and technical support.
• Investigate, challenge, and manage data provider sources and collaborate with them to ensure data integrity and timeliness.
• Implement best-in-class processes and drive the organization toward full automation of index operations.
• Participate in ongoing communication with clients regarding operational workflows and technical improvements.

Qualifications

Required

• Education: Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in a team/function leadership role with in-depth knowledge of index operations.
• Data experience: Previous experience handling financial datasets, including reference, market, and fundamental data.
• Python proficiency: Hands-on experience developing Python scripts for data validation, automation, and workflows.
• Corporate actions: Strong understanding of corporate actions and their impact on index management.
• Market data vendors: Knowledge of market data vendors (e.g., Refinitiv, Bloomberg, SIX, ICE) is a must.
• Analytical skills: Deep analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to efficiently convey complex information.

Nice to Have

• Python certifications or advanced pandas proficiency
• Experience with workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Prefect)
• Familiarity with FastAPI or Flask for internal tooling
• Knowledge of EU Benchmark Regulation (EU BMR)
