Our Hardware team designs and builds the beautifully engineered payment devices and accessories that let millions of small merchants start, run and grow their businesses, spanning industrial design, electronics, embedded systems, mobile apps and backend services. As Senior Hardware Engineer, you'll shape the electrical architecture behind our next generation of products, including new designs built on modern Android platforms, giving you real influence over how SumUp's hardware portfolio takes shape from the very first schematic.

What you'll do

Design and review electrical schematics, defining hardware architectures for new products

Partner with Mechanical Engineering, Android and embedded software, Product and Supply Chain teams to align platform choices, interfaces and product integration

Own hardware delivery from prototyping and bring up through validation and mass production readiness, debugging designs and reducing technical risk along the way

Explore new design approaches and prototype untested concepts to work through tough technical challenges

Lead technical workstreams and design reviews, coordinate implementation across cross functional teams, and mentor colleagues to share hardware engineering knowledge

You'll be great for this role if…

Significant experience in electrical engineering, gained in consumer electronics or hardware product development.

Strong knowledge across several of the following areas: RF (cellular, NFC, Wi-Fi/BT), power design, digital buses and protocols, battery technology or analogue design.

Track record of bringing multiple hardware products through to mass production.

Proficiency in a mainstream CAD system such as Altium or Cadence/Allegro.

Ability to create hardware architectures for modern Android based products and work closely with Android or embedded software teams on platform integration.

Nice to have:
