Job summary

Axel Springer Tech GmbH is looking for a Staff Fullstack Software Engineer to join our On-Demand Team in Berlin. You will own full lifecycle development of on-demand audio and video content, from ingest and encoding to AI-based metadata enrichment and delivery, in a self-organized agile environment.

You'll work across backend, data, observability and cloud, shaping scalable microservices, improving content discovery for brands like BILD and WELT, and partnering with DevOps to codify

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software delivery experience.
• Deep expertise across backend, data, observability, cloud; strong cross-stack skills.
• Hands-on across the lifecycle—from requirements and design to implementation, testing and operations.
• Significant experience in Agile/Lean, BDD, DevOps/GitOps, and multiple programming languages or modern UI development.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy and operate production services end-to-end within an agile, product-focused team.
• Develop and evolve our microservice ecosystem, making services observable, resilient and scalable.
• Raise quality by writing lean, well-tested code and applying BDD where valuable.
• Automate infrastructure and delivery with GitOps/CI/CD for speed and guardrails.
• Keep production healthy by instrumenting metrics, logs and traces and learning from incidents.

How you'll make an impact

• you design, build, test, deploy and operate production services end to end in an agile, product-focused team

• you have significant experience in at least two of the following : Agile/Lean, BDD, DevOps/GitOps, multiple programming languages or modern UI development
• you learn fast and stay pragmatic - choosing the right tool for the job
