Spine is seeking an experienced engineer to own the operator console end-to-end, from fused sensor data ingestion to the real-time React/TypeScript frontend watched by operators in live incidents.
You will handle real-time delivery over WebSockets or event streams, ensure a reliable multi-site view, and make tough product calls in collaboration with field engineers and customers. This is a hands-on, on-site role in Berlin.
Location: Berlin, on-site | Type: Full time, permanent | Reports to: CTO | Range: €65,000–125,000 depending on level | Language: English
Spine builds sensor towers and the software that let operators of critical infrastructure see what's happening on their sites: substations, gas facilities, solar parks, logistics hubs. The hardware detects. The platform correlates and tells one person in a control room the one thing worth their attention.
That person sees the operator console, and that is what you'd own. It's a live map of the site with tracks moving across it, alarms an operator acknowledges and resolves, camera feeds from the towers, and an evidence export for when something actually happened. It's used during live incidents, so it has to be fast, clear and impossible to misread.
The unusual part is where it runs. Our backend sits on the towers and inside customer networks rather than in a cloud we control, and sometimes those networks are offline. One tower works well today. Next comes a single view across a whole multi-tower site.
An intro call, then a take-home challenge on a real problem. It's open-ended on purpose: we care about your reasoning, not polish. You present it to us and we decide quickly after that.
