Zusammenfassung

Vodafone Eschborn is seeking a Senior Expert Fixed Access Network Engineer to drive the SDN-based evolution of fixed access, designing scalable GPON/XGSPON solutions and overseeing fiber connectivity for both consumer and enterprise segments.

You will lead supplier engagements, shape technical contracts, and provide guidance to external teams while ensuring robust budget planning for the fixed access network. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related field.
• Very good knowledge of packet- and circuit-switched networks.
• Strong knowledge of GPON, XGSPON and PON flavours with SDN emphasis.
• Experience with OSS/SDN-C interfaces and web services.
• Excellent English written and spoken skills.

What to Expect

• You will be as Senior Expert Fixed Access Network Engineering (m/w/d) responsible for implementing the goals, specifications, and business processes in the Fixed Access Engineering & Optimization team
• You will lead the evolution of network management access toward an SDN-based paradigm
• You will design and implement scalable optical fixed access solutions for the consumer and enterprise sectors
• You will develop fiber access connectivity for all market segments in Fiber Access technologies (i.e. GPON, XGSPON, and any new PON flavours and P2P Ethernet fiber) Design and process requirements and evaluations of supplier tenders, whereby your projects are across Vodafone Group
• You are involved in the choice and control of suppliers and take over the technical contract conditions
• You will provide technical leadership to external team members in the Fixed Access Engineering & Optimization team
• You will prepare budget estimates according to the requirements of the fixed access network
• You will have very good knowledge of packet-switched and circuit-switched networks
• You will have very good knowledge of access technologies such as GPON, new xPON, and xDSL
• You will have analytical thinking and functional understanding
• You will have high stress tolerance and flexibility
• You move confidently in an English-speaking environment

What Sets You Apart

• A degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Very good knowledge of packet-switched and circuit-switched networks
• Very good knowledge of access technologies such as GPON, new xPON, and xDSL
• Very good knowledge of fixed access technologies (such as GPON, XGSPON and new PON flavours as well as P2P Ethernet fiber) with special emphasis on SDN (Software Defined Network)
• Experience in handling with protocols and interfaces, especially southbound interfaces between OSS and SDN-C (e.g. XML, JSON, SOAP, RESTconf, Netconf, YANG, Openflow, Kafka, Corba etc.)
• Be competent on Standard Web Services commonly used in the OSS /SDN-C environment (Keycloak, Grafana, MariaDB etc.)
• Analytical thinking and functional understanding
• Assertiveness, communication and cooperation skills in a team as well as good organizational and conceptual skills
• High stress tolerance and flexibility
• Very good written and spoken English skills

This position can be full-time or part-time (at least 30 hours).
