Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is seeking a Senior Platform DevOps Engineer to join the Enterprise Digital Tooling Platform team. You will engineer, automate, and improve enterprise tooling platforms that support technology delivery and service operations across the organisation.

You will design, build, and enhance platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence, champion DevOps, drive automation, mentor engineers, and ensure secure, resilient, scalable services that meet business needs.

Kāinga Ora is seeking a Senior Platform DevOps Engineer to join our Enterprise Digital Tooling Platform team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the engineering, automation, reliability, and continuous improvement of enterprise tooling platforms that support technology delivery and service operations across the organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring our platforms are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

Working across platforms including ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence, you will design, build, and enhance solutions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen service delivery, and simplify how teams work. You will champion DevOps practices, drive automation, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our platform capabilities.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and promote engineering standards that support the delivery of reliable, high-performing, and supportable solutions.

Working closely with stakeholders across Technology and the wider business, you will support the delivery of strategic initiatives while ensuring platform services remain stable, secure, and fit for purpose. You will be instrumental in creating sustainable solutions that improve service quality, reduce operational overhead, and deliver long‑term business value.

• Experience supporting and operating enterprise technology platforms, with a strong focus on service reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
• Demonstrated success leading complex engineering initiatives, including platform upgrades, technology lifecycle management, and the resolution of incidents and problems within production environments
• Strong understanding of IT service management principles, operational processes, risk management practices, and the disciplines required to maintain secure, stable, and resilient services
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentor and develop engineers, influence technical outcomes, and make sound decisions in fast‑paced and high‑pressure situations
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
• Able to balance operational stability, service improvement initiatives, and delivery commitments while managing competing priorities in complex enterprise environments
• This role is ideal for a senior technology professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capability and a commitment to driving operational excellence and continuous improvement
