About the Company

For an internationally growing tech company based in Munich, we are looking for a (Senior) DevOps Engineer (m/f/d).

The company is an established scale-up, developing a modern, cloud-based platform serving millions of users worldwide. Its technical infrastructure is heavily focused on AWS and Kubernetes and provides the foundation for numerous production services and applications.

The role sits at the heart of DevOps / Platform Engineering. The DevOps team operates with a high degree of ownership and supports a large engineering organisation. We are therefore not looking for a software developer with some DevOps responsibilities, but for a hands-on DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineer with strong experience in cloud infrastructure and production Kubernetes environments.

A particularly exciting aspect of the role is the scale of the environment: you will work with a large AWS-native infrastructure and a production Kubernetes environment of approximately 200 nodes.

Your Responsibilities

  • Operate, develop, and optimise AWS-native cloud infrastructure
  • Administer, scale, and troubleshoot production Kubernetes and EKS environments
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Automate infrastructure and operational processes
  • Optimise CI/CD and deployment processes
  • Build and further develop monitoring, observability, and alerting
  • Analyse and resolve production incidents
  • Improve performance, stability, availability, and security
  • Optimise cloud resources and infrastructure costs
  • Develop and maintain platform standards and technical best practices
  • Work closely with software engineers and other technical teams
  • Independently design and implement technical solutions for infrastructure and platform challenges

Your Profile

  • Several years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure (Ideally around 4–5+ years of practical professional experience)
  • Very strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments
  • Very strong knowledge of Kubernetes and operating it in production
  • Good knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
  • Experience with Kubernetes cluster administration, scaling, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with CI/CD and modern deployment processes
  • Good understanding of Linux and fundamental networking concepts
  • Experience with monitoring and observability
  • Scripting experience, e.g. Python or Bash
  • Experience handling production incidents and complex troubleshooting
  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and architectural decisions
  • Independent, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach
  • Willingness to take end-to-end ownership of technical topics

What matters most: You should not only know how a technology is used, but also be able to explain why a particular technical solution was chosen.

For example, you should be able to explain which alternatives you considered, what trade-offs were involved, and why you chose a specific architecture or AWS service.

Your Profile Is Particularly Interesting If You Also Bring

  • Hands-on experience with AWS EKS
  • Experience managing EKS and performing cluster upgrades
  • Strong knowledge of AWS Networking
  • GitHub Actions or Jenkins
  • Prometheus and Grafana
  • Elastic Stack / OpenTelemetry
  • Experience with larger Kubernetes environments
  • Experience building infrastructure or platform components from scratch
  • Experience with Security / DevSecOps
  • Experience with Cloud Cost Optimisation
  • Knowledge of Go
  • Experience in a technology-driven product company, start-up, or scale-up
  • SRE background

What We Offer

  • Hybrid working model with approx. 50% office presence in Munich
  • Up to 8 weeks of workation per year
  • Modern AWS and Kubernetes environment
  • High degree of technical ownership
  • Direct influence on key infrastructure and platform decisions
  • International working environment with colleagues from many different countries
  • Modern technical equipment
  • Individual training and professional development opportunities
  • Discounts on fitness and sports programmes
  • Additional attractive employee benefits

Why This Role Is Exciting

This position gives you the opportunity to actively shape a central cloud and Kubernetes platform while taking on significant technical responsibility.

The DevOps team has a deliberately broad scope. In addition to AWS and Kubernetes, its responsibilities include Infrastructure as Code, observability, automation, security, and cost optimisation.

You will not be limited to a small part of the infrastructure. Instead of working in a highly siloed environment, you will be expected to look at problems holistically, make technical decisions independently, and implement solutions end-to-end.

The combination of technical depth and significant impact makes this role particularly interesting: you will work hands-on with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform while also having the opportunity to shape standards, platforms, and automation for the long term.

We are looking for someone who is technically strong enough to make well-founded platform decisions, operate production systems reliably, and solve complex problems in a structured way — someone who understands not only the how, but above all the why behind technical decisions.
