Protech Talent is assisting a rapidly scaling AI-driven cybersecurity company in Berlin to hire a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer. You will own scaling, securing, and automating the AWS infrastructure with Terraform and Kubernetes (EKS) and collaborate with Backend, Security, and Product teams.

You will help transition legacy deployments to fully automated IaC, build robust CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / GitLab CI / ArgoCD), and ensure high availability and security as data scales.

The Project

As a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer, you will take ownership of scaling, securing, and automating their entire AWS cloud infrastructure.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you will not only maintain systems but actively architect the next generation of their platform. You will transition legacy deployments into fully automated, Kubernetes-orchestrated environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

You will collaborate closely with Backend Engineers, Security teams, and Product Managers to ensure that as the company scales to handle petabytes of data, the infrastructure remains highly available, resilient, and impenetrable.

• Architect & Automate: Design, build, and maintain highly available and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform.
• Container Orchestration: Manage and scale containerized microservices using Docker and Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
• CI/CD Excellence: Build, optimize, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless, zero-downtime deployments.
• Observability & Reliability: Implement advanced monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus) to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
• Security-First Engineering: Enforce zero-trust architecture, identity access management (IAM), and strict security compliance across all cloud environments.
• Cloud: Deep AWS (EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform (must-have), Terragrunt.
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.
• Scripting: Python, Bash, or Go.
• 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
• AWS Mastery: Deep, production-level expertise in designing and managing complex AWS environments. (AWS Certifications are a strong plus).
• IaC & Automation: Extensive hands-on experience writing and managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Kubernetes Expert: Proven track record of deploying, managing, and scaling Kubernetes clusters in production.
• CI/CD & Developer Productivity: Strong experience building automated deployment pipelines that empower development teams to ship faster and safer.
• Scripting Proficiency: Ability to write clean, maintainable automation scripts in Python, Go, or Bash.

1st. Intro Call: Background, culture check, and mutual alignment with the internal Talent team (30 mins).

2nd. Technical Deep Dive (90 mins):

Architecture & Systems Design: A whiteboard-style discussion on how you would design a scalable, secure AWS environment for a specific high-traffic scenario.

IaC / Automation Review: A practical discussion reviewing Terraform concepts, CI/CD strategies, and troubleshooting methodologies.

3rd. Team Interview: Meet with a Backend Engineer and the VP of Engineering to discuss collaboration, developer experience, and cultural fit.

4th. Final Stage: A chat with the Founders to discuss the company vision, your career trajectory, and final alignment.
