Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Senior Design Engineer based in Germany to bridge product design and frontend development. You will ship production-ready interfaces across core platform, customer-facing experiences, and the website, collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and product managers.

You will contribute to the design system, ensure alignment with Figma and code, and prototype ideas in code for customer validation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building user interfaces in a design engineering, front-end development, or design-focused engineering role.
• Deep knowledge of React and TypeScript, with strong foundations in HTML, CSS, and web accessibility.
• Solid understanding of APIs, ability to interpret documentation, work with real data, and contribute to API design decisions.
• A portfolio demonstrating design work and implemented, production-quality interfaces.
• Recent practical experience using AI in design and engineering workflows, with understanding of value and limitations.
• Experience contributing to a design system actively used by product or engineering teams.
• Ability to work independently from concept to shipped feature without detailed specs.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to explain design decisions to engineers and constraints to designers.
• Excellent written communication, especially in a remote-first environment.
• Strong attention to detail and interest in refining interface quality, transitions, spacing, and edge cases.
• Interest in energy transition and contributing to electrification and flexible energy use.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and ship production-ready user interfaces across core platform, customer-facing connection experience, and website, directly in the codebase.
• Contribute to design system, maintaining components, design tokens, and documentation.
• Keep design system aligned across Figma, code, AI-assisted tools, and workflows.
• Create interactive prototypes in code to test ideas with customers and colleagues before full implementation.
• Improve UX quality by refining interactions, motion, accessibility, performance, and details.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve front-end development, review, and release processes to reflect design intent in production.
• Work with engineers on API design and improvements to make developer-facing interfaces clear and easy to integrate.
• Develop tools and prototypes that strengthen design-engineering collaboration.
• Shape the team's use of AI for prototyping, exploration, and workflow improvement, while recognizing limitations.
• Take ownership of projects from concept to release to uphold high design and engineering craftsmanship.

We are looking for a hands-on Design Engineer who bridges the gap between product design and front-end development. You will turn ideas and designs into polished, production-ready interfaces across a platform used by energy retailers and developers, customer-facing connection flows, and the company website. Working closely with designers, engineers, and product managers, you will help shape the tools and experiences supporting the transition to a smarter, more flexible energy system. You will have significant ownership in a small, senior team where your work moves directly into production. The role also offers an opportunity to influence design systems, front-end practices, and the practical use of AI in creative and engineering workflows.

Accountabilities

• Build, develop, and ship production-ready user interfaces across the core platform, customer-facing connection experience, and website, working directly in the codebase.
