Job summary

KONUX is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead development of data-driven solutions for railway industry challenges. You will work with IIoT sensor data, design production-ready models, and deploy them into live systems while collaborating with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to translate business needs into impactful technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering with 5+ years hands-on experience in data science.
• Built and tested statistical or ML models.
• Fluency in Python; another programming language is a plus.
• Experience with dataframe-centric data manipulation tools such as Pandas, PySpark, Polars and SQL.
• Owned complex data science problems and developed models for production systems.
• Familiar with version control (Git) and software engineering best practices.
• Proactive, impact-driven attitude in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Experience applying DSP techniques to extract features from sensor/time-series data (nice to have).
• Experience with model monitoring, software testing, CI/CD workflows (nice to have).
• Experience with diverse data types (time-series, tabular, events, images, sensor data).
• Experience with AWS and Databricks (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Develop insights using a wide range of data sources including IIoT sensor data and railway datasets.
• Design and implement end-to-end data science solutions, from problem framing to production release.
• Deploy well-tested, maintainable models into live systems.
• Develop tools and infrastructure for sensor data analysis integrated into the software lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to translate business needs into technical impact.

Your Impact:

• Develop insights using a wide range of data sources, including IIoT sensor data and other railway domain datasets
• Design and implement solutions - from understanding customer challenges to releasing models to production
• Deploy well-tested, maintainable solutions into live systems
• Develop tools and infrastructure for sensor data analysis that integrate smoothly into our end-to-end software engineering lifecycle
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to translate business needs into technical impact\
• Drive innovation and help you and your colleagues improve and grow

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:

• A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of hands‑on experience in data science, having built and tested statistical or ML models
• Fluency in Python and ideally experience with an additional programming language
• Past experience working with dataframe-centric data manipulation tools such as pandas, PySpark, Polars and SQL
• Past experience owning complex data science problems independently, having developed models for production systems, beyond pure academic or research settings
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and common software engineering best-practices
• A proactive, impact-driven attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

It’s a plus (but not a requirement) if you have:

Experience applying digital signal processing (DSP) techniques to extract features and insights, for example from sensor or time-series data

• Understanding of model monitoring techniques, software testing, and CI/CD workflows
• Worked with and trained models using diverse types of data (e.g. time-series, tabular, event logs, images, sensor data etc.)
• Experience with state-space and survival modeling, and familiarity with statistical packages such as statsmodels, PyMC, or Stan
• Experience with AWS and Databricks
