About the role:

As our Senior Data Engineer based inTübingen, you will design and deliver scalable data solutions that support critical capabilities and analytics across finance, supply chain, Sales, and AI. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, you'll integrate and transform complex data into trusted insights that drive smarter decisions and measurable business outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to influence our enterprise data strategy, contribute to our transition towards a Data as a Product (DaaP) approach, and help establish Data Mesh principles that enable scalable, business-focused data products. You'll combine hands‑on engineering with technical leadership to help create a modern, data-driven organisation.

What You Will Do

• Partner with business leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to shape data initiatives, translate complex business requirements into scalable data products and solutions, and provide technical leadership, mentoring and solution design expertise
• Translate business requirements into scalable data products and solutions
• Design, build and optimize scalable data pipelines and integrations across our enterprise data platform
• Integrate and transform data from ERP, CRM, finance, supply chain, and other business systems
• Maintain high standards of data quality, security, governance, reliability, and performance
• Evolve our cloud‑based data platform through best practices and continuous improvement
• Support the adoption of Data as a Product and Data Mesh principles

What You Will Bring

• Strong business engagement skills, with the ability to understand business processes, identify opportunities, and translate stakeholder needs into scalable data solutions
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and executive teams
• 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a similar role
• Strong experience designing and building modern cloud‑based data platforms, ideally in Azure
• Expertise in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL and Python
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT development, dimensional modelling, data warehousing and lakehouse architecture
• Experience integrating data across enterprise platforms and business applications
• Solid knowledge of data governance, data quality, performance optimization and operational support
• Nice to have: Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, AI/ML initiatives, Data Mesh or Data as a Product architecture, basic finance processes, German language skills, or working within international organizations
