Overview

EWI are supporting a client in Germany seeking a Freelance Senior Construction Manager to lead on-site delivery of a major hydrogen pipeline project in Northern Germany. The role focuses on construction oversight, contractor management, safety leadership, and ensuring the project is delivered on time, on budget, and to required technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day construction activities across the pipeline route and associated infrastructure.
• Manage contractors, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Enforce HSE policies in line with German regulations and industry standards.
• Oversee QA/QC, including welding, testing, and material compliance.
• Review technical documentation, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Track progress, manage risks, and report to the Project Director.
• Coordinate with engineering, land access, environmental, and commissioning teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in pipeline or large-scale energy infrastructure construction.
• Strong background as a Construction Manager / Site Manager on major projects.
• Knowledge of German HSE and pipeline standards.
• Experience managing large contractor teams.
• English fluency; German at working level (B1/B2).
• Relevant safety certifications.
