Chint Solar Europe seeks a Senior Construction Manager in Germany, near Berlin, to lead on-site construction for a flagship project: ~100 MW Battery Energy Storage System and ~150 MVA MV/HV substation. Role covers PV, BESS, and substation scopes with multi-disciplinary interfaces and strong contractor coordination.

Engagement could be freelance or employment for approx. 15–18 months; full-time site presence required.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or comparable field.
• 10+ years in construction management for utility-scale Solar PV or infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in complex multi-scope PV construction environments (BESS and substations advantageous).
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making with on-site independence.
• Fluency in German and English.

You will take a leading role in the delivery of a flagship project in Germany, located in the vicinity of Berlin:

~100 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

~150 MVA MV/HV substation

This project represents a highly integrated, multi-scope construction environment with significant technical and interface complexity.

Your key responsibilities

• Full responsibility for execution of all on-site construction activities across PV, BESS and substation scopes, acting as single point of accountability on site
• Drive and control construction progress, schedule and sequencing, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones and overall project timeline
• Lead and coordinate all contractors, subcontractors and site teams, managing interfaces across all disciplines and work packages
• Manage on-site stakeholders (e.g. landowners, neighbours, authorities as required), ensuring smooth site operations and minimising external disruptions
• Identify and resolve construction-related issues and constraints proactively, taking hands-on decisions within defined project boundaries
• Ensure structured progress tracking and reporting, providing transparency on performance, risks and deviations
• Manage and enforce construction-related contractual obligations on site, including performance monitoring, deviation handling and support to variations and claims
• Ensure compliance with HSE, quality and permitting requirements, including proper control and coordination of material deliveries supplied by Chint, and maintain control of construction-related costs and impacts
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or comparable technical field
• 10+ years of experience in construction management of utility-scale Solar PV or infrastructure projects
• Proven track record in complex, multi-scope PV construction environments (BESS and substations advantageous)
• Strong experience in managing subcontractors, site coordination and interface-heavy projects
• Experience in construction-related contract management, including performance monitoring, variation handling and site-related claims support
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills with the ability to operate independently on site
• Full proficiency in German and English
